About the role

The Senior Manager, Project Implementation is entrusted with orchestrating the successful onboarding and implementation of new health plan, employer group, and third-party administrator (TPA) clients onto the company's pharmacy benefits management (PBM) software platform. This leadership role governs the implementation team, establishes best practices, and ensures the consistent delivery of high-caliber client implementations from contract execution through go-live and transition to account management. The Senior Manager collaborates closely with executive leadership and cross-functional departments, including technology, operations, clinical, finance, and account management, to drive operational excellence, refine implementation processes, and deliver an exceptional client experience. The ideal candidate brings extensive PBM industry expertise, formidable people leadership acumen, and a demonstrated record of managing complex enterprise implementations and high-performing teams.

This role demands a genuine leader and decisionmaker. The candidate must independently construct, direct, and stand behind client deliverables and meetings with minimal oversight, escalating only when circumstances are warranted.

What you'll do

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers responsible for client implementations, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development.

Oversee the end-to-end implementation portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client expectations and organizational objectives.

Establish implementation standards, methodologies, governance, and best practices to improve consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Serve as the executive-level point of escalation for complex implementation issues, proactively resolving client concerns and mitigating project risks.

Partner with Sales, Account Management, Product, Technology, Clinical, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to ensure seamless implementation planning and execution.

Oversee project resource allocation, workload balancing, and implementation capacity planning to support business growth and client commitments.

Command the leadership to review and monitor project plans, timelines, milestone tracking, risk assessments, and implementation progress to ensure successful project execution across the implementation portfolio.

Independently build and own project plans and schedules from the ground up for assigned client implementations, including task-level detail, dependencies, owners, and baseline dates.

Guide implementation teams through client discovery sessions, solution design, platform configuration, data integrations, testing, go-live readiness, and post-implementation transition activities.

Ensure successful implementation of PBM operational components including formulary configuration, benefit plan design, BIN/PCN provisioning, pharmacy network setup, eligibility processing, prior authorization (PA) workflows, claims adjudication, MAC pricing, and file integrations.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating implementation workflows, identifying process gaps, implementing automation opportunities, and developing standardized documentation and templates.

Collaborate with Product Management and Technology teams to identify implementation-related product enhancements and prioritize client-driven improvements.

Support strategic organizational initiatives including new product launches, acquisitions, system upgrades, and enterprise implementation projects.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement across the implementation organization.
