
About the role:
The categories of responsibility include, but are not limited to: Front desk management, Assessment Lab management, Admissions work, and overflow Teaching assistant work for the faculty of the department.
Student Department Assistants will provide administrative support, assist in coordinating the day-to-day management of the department, focusing primarily on student involvement. Additional tasks may include current student registration and academic advising, admissions tours and informational meetings, complete administrative assistance for AHS faculty, scheduling and management of the AHS-labs calendar of lab spaces, and coordination and upkeep of lab spaces and equipment.
Qualifications
You must be an enrolled (part or full-time) student in the Applied Health Science Department with third or fourth year standing. This position is approved pending direct communication with the supervising faculty, Leah Jackson and Seth Paradis.
Work Environment
Lab managers complete their hours at the front desk in the LWLC 400 lobby. Sustained time sitting at a computer is required.
Physical Demands
There are minimal physical demands -sitting during shifts, standing and lifting minor objects to tidy and inventory lab spaces.
Expected Hours of Work
Lead Lab Managers are expected to complete 8-10 hours of in-person work within the department (Monday - Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM), with the majority of the hours overlapping with assessment lab schedules (variable). Up to three hours may overlap between the two lab managers, and up to 3 hours may overlap with non-lead roles (assistant lab managers in spring); totalling 6 hours of overlap.
