About the role

The Inside Sales Representative I is a highly energetic individual who is responsible for driving revenue growth through Bluefin’s referral partner channel. The ideal candidate will perform outbound and in-bound sales and be able to close deals over the phone using exceptional communications, product knowledge, and client service skills. This role serves as a trusted advisor to merchants. This individual will independently manage merchant opportunities from initial referral through onboarding and activation, making informed decisions regarding pricing, coordinating with internal departments, and ensuring merchants receive exceptional service throughout the customer lifecycle. This is a remote position reporting to the SVP, US Sales.

What you'll do

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Drive achievement of Bluefin revenue, margin, and growth objectives by proactively managing inbound referral opportunities and conducting outbound sales calls to prospective merchants.
  • Own the full sales cycle for referred merchant opportunities, from initial contact and discovery through pricing, proposal, closing, onboarding, activations, and early lifecycle support.
  • Consult with merchant to understand their business needs payment acceptance environment, current challenges, and growth objectives, then position appropriate Bluefin products and services to support those needs.
  • Effectively communicate Bluefin’s value proposition, including intangible program benefits, service quality, security advantages, payment solutions, and partner-channel benefits, through phone and virtual sales conversations.
  • Independently evaluate merchant processing opportunities and recommend appropriate pricing while balancing profitability, competitive market conditions, risk considerations, and long-term relationship value.
  • Make informed decisions throughout the sales, underwriting, onboarding, and activation process to support timely merchant implementations a successful account conversion.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for referred merchants during the sales and onboarding journey, ensuring consistent communications, clear expectations, and positive client experience.
  • Partner closely with Underwriting, Risk, Activations, Relationship Management, and other internal teams to coordinate merchant approvals, documentation, pricing reviews, escalations, and activations.
  • Contribute toward minimizing client attrition through leveraging the relationship, excellent problem solving and resolution, and providing overall exceptional information and service.
  • Accurately manage leads, opportunities, activities, merchant data, and client communications within Bluefin’s CRM and internal systems with a high degree of urgency, accuracy, and completeness.

  • Knowledge and understanding of payment processing products and services, knowledge of Mastercard/Visa Association rules and regulations, technical skills, contract language, credit policies, product conversions (highly desirable)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, selling, objection and negotiation skills within inbound and outbound sales environment (desire to win!)
  • Exceptional detail-oriented, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage effectively leads through a CRM system.
