About Braid Robotics

Braid is on a mission to make AI learn as fast as humans. We build smart models that learn from very little data, and are putting them to work in unstructured environments where data is scarce.

The opportunity

We are pioneering robot learning in unstructured environments. Designing the right hardware is crucial for the success of automation, and we are looking for exceptionally talented mechanical engineers to play key roles in our team. Hardware is a first-class citizen at Braid.

The opportunity is to design unique interfaces, end effectors, and perception solutions to enable the automation of tasks in environments as diverse as construction sites, oil and gas facilities, and shipyards.

Who you are

You love integrated systems and are passionate about designing mechanisms and interfaces. If this wasn't a job, you would be designing as a hobby.

You do not hesitate to go on the field to understand the problem at hand, see robots in action, and improve their design.

You are undaunted by startup life and are eager to collaborate in a small, high-impact team. 

You can't wait to learn more about AI and are excited to learn from the best in the field. And get paid doing so!

What you'll do

• Design mechanisms, interfaces, and end effectors for our robots
• ML engineers are sometimes your customers: work closely with them on the design
• Design for performance and reliability
• Take charge of and operate 3D printers and fabrication machines
• Lead the relationship with suppliers of components and with manufacturers

Preferred qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Robotics or related field
• 6+ years experience in mechanical design
• Experience designing, fabricating and supporting hardware that shipped commercially
• Onshape, Solidworks
