About Canada Rocket Company

Canada Rocket Company is developing Canada's first medium-lift launch vehicle.

We are a team of veterans from SpaceX, Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, ArianeGroup, Pangea Propulsion, Tesla, MDA, and more, bringing over a century of combined launch and space systems experience back to Canada.

Our mission is to provide reliable, independent access to space for Canada and its allies in a rapidly expanding global market.

Our approach is defined by pragmatic engineering:

  • We utilize a single 700 kN engine that scales from light- to medium-lift via engine clustering.
  • We lean on simple, proven technologies to reach orbit faster, avoiding the pitfalls of complex or novel designs.
  • We test early and often, catching problems on the bench instead of at the pad.

Backed by over $20M in funding secured within our first four months, including the largest all-Canadian seed round in the sector and an $8.3M Department of National Defence grant, we are

moving with the speed and institutional backing required to meet Canada’s orbital launch needs.

About the role

We're looking for a [IT Manager and Designer] to own the information infrastructure that the organization runs on, from the network and servers in our facilities to the administration of software tools that engineers, operations, and leadership use every day. This is a foundational, hands-on role: you will design and build these systems from the ground up, keep them running reliably, and ensure they are secure. The role is a critical underpinning to CRC operations, and will interact with facilities, engineering, People Operations, and all other operational disciplines daily.

In addition, you'll work with our Security team to further enact and reinforce our security posture, policies, and controls that keep our information safe and that meets or exceeds compliance with Canadian and allied frameworks/requirements.

What you'll do

  • Design, deploy, and maintain CRC’s multi-site secure network infrastructure. You'll be responsible for end-to-end design from utility interconnection to final device.
  • Develop standards for all existing and new sites.
  • Stand up and administer server infrastructure for internal services, including file storage, backups, identity and access management, on-premises modeling and analysis compute resources, and manufacturing and test lab network requirements.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure and SaaS services in use across the organization
  • Own network monitoring, uptime, and incident response: identify and resolve outages and degraded performance quickly, with minimal disruption to our engineering and operations.
  • Support CRC’s information security policies, access controls, endpoint protection, network segmentation, and audit logging
  • Work with engineering leads to understand tooling requirements and ensure the organization has access to the software it needs without unnecessary delay or licensing gaps
  • Provide day-to-day IT support to the organization: troubleshoot hardware and software issues, manage device fleet (laptops, workstations, lab machines), and resolve problems quickly so our team continues to build fast
  • Maintain internal documentation for systems, processes, and user guides

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or network engineering, with demonstrated ownership of the full stack from physical network to end-user support across multiples sites.
  • Hands-on experience designing and managing enterprise networks
  • Experience administering identity and access management systems
  • Experience with detailed design from utility service to end devices
  • Strong understanding of information security principles: network segmentation, endpoint protection, patch management, audit logging, vulnerability management, and incident response
  • Experience managing SaaS platforms and cloud infrastructure including access controls and integration with on-premises systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and the ability to resolve issues independently
  • Comfortable operating in an environment where process doesn’t fully exist yet

Preferred

  • Experience with information security compliance obligations relevant to Canadian defense or government programs
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in information technology, computer science, network engineering, or a related field
