About the role

We are seeking a Cloud Architect to support client IT systems across development, operations, and modernization initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of client technology environments—including DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines, Cloud One hosting, Oracle-based systems, and Java application stacks—operating in both classified and unclassified DISA and cloud environments.

The Cloud Architect plays a key role in defining, designing, and governing cloud-based architectures, DevSecOps pipelines, and system integrations that enable secure, scalable, and resilient capability delivery. This position works closely with development teams, Cloud Engineering, DevSecOps Platform resources, Product Owners, and the Program Management Office (PMO) to ensure architectural alignment, standardized delivery patterns, and modernization strategies are effectively implemented in support of mission objectives and customer priorities.

What you'll do

  • Define and lead the cloud architecture strategy aligning to client modernization goals and mission priorities
  • Design and implement hybrid cloud architectures integrating Cloud One, DISA environments, and on-premise systems
  • Architect and optimize DevSecOps pipelines to support automated, secure, and continuous delivery across environments
  • Lead the design of data architectures and integration pipelines, enabling ingestion, transformation, and utilization of maintenance and operational data
  • Establish and enforce cloud governance, security, and compliance frameworks, including RMF, NIST 800-53, and STIG requirements
  • Collaborate with development, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and operations teams to ensure architectural alignment and delivery efficiency
  • Evaluate current-state architecture and define target-state modernization roadmaps, including phased migration strategies
  • Support performance optimization, cost management, and system resilience across cloud environments
  • Provide technical guidance during design reviews, architecture boards, and program-level decision-making
  • Client Compliance (DevSecOps): Integrate security checks, vulnerability scanning, and compliance audits directly into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring compliance with DISA STIGs and NIST 800-53 controls.
  • Cloud Architecture: Design scalable and resilient hybrid cloud architectures (AWS/Azure) tailored for defense mission systems.
  • Containerization: Leverage tools like Kubernetes, Docker, Harbor, or ECS for application modernization.
  • Lead AWS operations, including configuration, updates, and governance.
  • Manage, maintain, and configure cloud migration planning and execution.
  • Create solution architectures, estimates, and technical proposal content and ensure solutions align with client requirements.
  • Support orals, technical reviews, and customer deep-dive sessions.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams and program leadership to deliver scalable cloud solutions. Serve as a senior technical advisor on cloud, networking, IAM, and security architectures.
  • Provide guidance during orals, technical reviews, and customer deep dive sessions.

Qualifications

  • Secret – Fully Cleared Only, must confirm clearance is active
  • Client 8140 intermediate certification or client 8570 IAM Level II certifications or higher
  • US Citizens Only
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience years of experience in cloud architecture, system architecture, or enterprise IT design, preferably within client environments.
  • Experience designing and implementing solutions in Cloud One, AWS, Azure Government, or similar environments
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline architecture
  • Experience with hybrid cloud and distributed system architectures
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of version control systems (Git-based workflows)
  • Familiarity with client cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, STIGs, NIST 800-53)

Preferred

  • Experience working with Agile development teams of 20+ FTEs and be familiar with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience supporting Air Force systems or maintenance/logistics platforms
  • Experience supporting DoD or USAF cloud environments (e.g., Cloud One, Platform One).
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust concepts.
  • Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Google, or Oracle).
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance architectures and data analytics platforms
  • Experience with data engineering pipelines and large-scale data integration
