Senior Jeweller

About us:

Founded by Jordan Cullen in 2018, Cullen Jewellery is an Australian fine jewellery brand grounded in intention, care, and considered design.

As a digital-first brand, we bring together traditional craftsmanship and modern technology to create pieces designed to endure – in both form and feeling.

From carbon neutral lab-grown diamonds to responsible material choices and global replanting initiatives, every detail reflects Cullen’s long-term perspective.

Our dedication to our clients is what sets us apart. We build lasting relationships and share our expertise to help them make confident, informed decisions.

About the position:

As our Senior Jeweller you will be the most experienced pair of hands at the bench, reporting to the Workshop Manager and working on site at our Kew workshop. It is a fast-paced, high-volume workshop. You will craft and finish fine jewellery to the standard our clients expect, resolve the technical problems others cannot, and bring our junior and intermediate jewellers up with you.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Craft and refine fine jewellery with precision, meeting daily output targets without compromising the quality and artistry our clients expect.
  • Execute advanced stone setting, including centre stones (lab-grown diamonds and coloured gemstones) and melee, across pavé, bead, prong, channel and other intricate settings, through to final finishing.
  • Check and tighten centre diamonds and melee stones as part of production, so every stone is secure before a piece leaves the bench.
  • Clean up and prepare castings, ready for setting and finishing.
  • Inspect pieces throughout production and hold the line on quality before anything reaches a client.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate jewellers, sharing techniques and helping them develop at the bench.
  • Work alongside our jewellers, setters, production and sales teams to bring designs to life, advising on technical challenges and design improvements, and keeping close to the team on any specific client requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement in the workshop, from techniques and tools through to process.
  • Resolve complex technical challenges in jewellery making and repair.
  • Keep the workshop safe and organised, and raise safety improvements where you see them.

What we are seeking:

  • A strong background in advanced jewellery-making techniques.
  • Mastery of metalworking, soldering and finishing, with the ability to produce high-quality pieces consistently.
  • Expertise in stone setting, including centre stones (diamonds and coloured gemstones), melee setting and stone tightening. Confident coloured stone setting is a real strength for us.
  • Experience mentoring or training less experienced jewellers, and a genuine interest in bringing people along.
  • The ability to work quickly and consistently in a fast-paced, high-volume workshop while keeping exceptional quality.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to share what you know and work closely with the team and management.
  • Advanced problem-solving, particularly on technical challenges in jewellery making and repair.
  • A proactive approach to improving how the workshop works.
  • A deep commitment to health and safety standards in a workshop environment.

What we offer:

  • A bench where you see your work through from brief to finished piece, on jewellery people keep for a lifetime.
  • Work alongside master craftspeople and production teams in a modern, technology-driven workshop.
  • Enjoy a supportive weekday culture at our Kew workshop, complete with convenient parking options.
  • Generous staff discounts on our fine jewellery, plus a 20% discount for your friends and family.
  • An extra week of paid volunteer leave every year to support a charity close to your heart.
  • Sponsorship of a child in need via Baptist World Aid for every full-time team member who joins our family.
