Summary: As the Legal Assistant - Closer for a personal injury law firm, you are key to moving clients’ cases from negotiations to final settlements with the Attorney. Everything you do helps our clients get their settlement checks faster! You will be responsible for performing all processing related to case management within the settlement phase of a personal injury case, such as verification of all amounts or fees related to the case, coordinating reductions from medical providers, ensuring accurate and timely payment to all agencies, and for preparing the settlement disbursements to the client.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create & prepare physical and Smokeball closing file
• Contact & negotiate with providers to reduce clients’ medical bills
• Update final balances and reduction amounts on Smokeball add costs
• Confirm Health Insurance, Workers Compensation, Child Support Lien’s & Loan Repayment amounts
• Prepare settlement statements and finalize settlement net amounts to client
• Give insurance checks to VD & JD for deposit into trust account
• Remotely online notarize Insurance Releases, Affidavits, Interrogatories, HIPPA’s
• Contact clients to update on reduction process/progress and to coordinate signing closing documents and check pickup-if local
• Assist case managers & lawyers w/ various closing and litigation questions
• Listen to voicemails and return various calls
• Review and respond to various emails
• Prepare and mail out payments to clients & providers

Qualifications:

·         Customer service skills

·         Team player, works well with others in a group setting

·         Strong organizational skills

·         Working knowledge of legal terms and health insurance, preferred

·         Effective verbal and communication skills

·         Proficient in MS Office

Salary: $24 - $34 hourly rate

Schedule: This position is ON-SITE in our Fort. Lauderdale office, with no remote/ hybrid schedule. Schedule is Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts, 8:30am-5:30pm
