About the Role:
Join us to work on multi-million-dollar career defining projects.
We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor, to join our Western Australia environmental approvals team to assist with the development some of Australia's of largest and most complex industrial projects. We welcome applications from both individual leaders and established teams seeking a new platform to grow. The role will include providing technical oversight as well as strategic and practical solutions to clients with environmental approvals challenges.
The successful candidate will need to :
· Provide strategic leadership for the planning, preparation, submission and delivery of primary environmental approvals at both State and Commonwealth levels, including Part IV EPA referrals and assessments under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (WA), Ministerial Statements, clearing permits, Part V licences, and referrals and approvals under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
· Oversee the lifecycle management of environmental approvals and consent conditions, ensuring ongoing compliance with WA and Commonwealth legislation, bilateral assessment arrangements and recognised industry standards.
· Work with Clients to integrate environmental risk management, sustainability objectives and approval conditions into project planning, delivery and asset operations.
· Lead regulator and stakeholder engagement strategies, maintaining strong and credible relationships with the WA EPA, DWER, DEMIRS and the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
Additional experience, good to have:
Experience in Oil and Gas / Energy secondary Approvals:
· Demonstrated experience leading or supporting secondary approvals for offshore or onshore oil and gas developments, including Environment Plans, Oil Pollution Emergency Plans (OPEPs), Offshore Project Proposals (OPPs) and associated revisions under the OPGGS Act and Environment Regulations.
Or
Experience in Mining / Resources Approvals:
· Proven experience managing environmental approvals for mining and resources projects, including mining proposals, mine closure plans, amendments to Ministerial Statements, and clearing permits under WA legislation.
· Experience coordinating environmental approvals in parallel with Mining Act 1978 (WA) processes and integrating environmental conditions into mine planning, operations and closure strategies.
· Act as the organisation’s senior subject matter expert, providing authoritative advice on environmental approvals strategy, regulatory risk, statutory obligations and emerging policy or legislative developments to internal and external stakeholders·
What We’re Looking For:
· A tertiary degree in Environmental Science / Engineering, management, or similar.
· 10+ years of experience in environmental approvals, both primary and secondary.
· Proven ability to build and sustain client relationships.
· Strong understanding of Commonwealth and State environmental legislation.
· Broader experience in environmental management and stakeholder engagement is advantageous.
· A proven track record in business development
· Strong written, verbal, and strategic thinking skills.
· Authorisation to work in Australia.
