About this role

Operate Amada Laser, cutting sheet metal from 16ga to 7ga, and plate steel from ¼” to ¾” thickness into standard products to include all specials, small parts, and templates needed by production teams. The Laser Operator will use whichever tooling is needed to complete the job, ensuring gauge and surface finish of all products reflect finish called out on blueprints, oral instructions or shop drawings and applicable quality specifications. 


What you'll be doing

  • Operate and set up Amada laser or similar equipment, adjusting settings for features specified in laser programs.
  • Retrieve, load, and execute CNC programs using machine computer systems in accordance with drawings and CAD/CAM files.
  • Perform routine maintenance and tool selection by reading and adhering to Operation Manuals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Accurately complete and submit all required production paperwork and documentation.
  • Champion a "Safety First" culture by modeling safe practices and promoting safety awareness across the team.

What you'll have

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification from a technical school preferred.
  • 3–4 years of experience operating an Amada laser or similar equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, specifications, and diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of shop math and units of measurement.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a team environment.

Physical requirements and work environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods in an active manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to moderate-to-high noise levels and occasional risk of electrical shock.

Safety requirements

  • PPE & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots).
  • Hazard Awareness: Proactively identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Standards: Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety training.
  • Organization: Keep all work areas clean and free of obstructions to prevent workplace accidents.
