Project Engineer - EPC

The Project Engineer will routinely meet with the Project Managers, Site Managers, Director of Construction, and the Head of Construction while performing the duties associated with this position. The Project Engineer will be assigned to one or more of the projects currently under contract. The Project Engineer will assist the Head of Construction with assigned tasks from time to time.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. The Project Engineer works continuously toward successful project completion by assisting the Director of Construction and the Site Managers in monitoring projects in a manner consistent with the intent of the contract requirements, specifications, and metrics appropriate to the project.
  2. Perform safety audits and interact with contractors and subcontractors to ensure the site is working safely and a positive safety culture is implemented at the site.
  3. Take the lead in quickly resolving issues which can impact the project’s schedule, quality, and budget for areas that have been assigned to the Project Engineer.
  4. Auditing project files and drawings to ensure that project teams maintain documents in an orderly fashion and are utilizing the latest revisions of documents on the project sites.
  5. Obtaining submittals, transmittals, and requests for information (RFIs) from Vendors and Contractors and routing or answering in a timely manner to support the project schedules.
  6. Reviewing submittals, transmittals, RFIs and schedules for accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
  7. Performing appropriate follow up on submittals, transmittals, and RFIs for additional information and action items.
  8. Track project deliverables (such as schedule updates, lien waivers, and work plans) to ensure documents are submitted timely and accurately.
  9. Perform field productivity audits tracking manpower, equipment, cycle times, and units installed.
  10. Assisting the project teams in documenting issues that could impact EXUS’ interests.
  11. Ability to read drawings (all disciplines), understand quality control requirements, and assess Project Schedules for risks and opportunities.
  12. Support independent engineer documentation process/review of project documentation (does deep dive on everything from the job, tracks down missing documentation, answering questions, submitting to engineers, etc.)

Education and Experience Requirements

  1. Bachelors in civil or electrical engineering, or construction management.
  2. 1+ years of experience in a position of responsibility with a construction or engineering firm, internships included.
  3. Prior experience assisting on projects from groundbreaking to project turnover highly preferred.
  4. Prior experience utilizing Word, Excel, Primavera, and select Project Management software highly preferred.
  5. Travel as required, up to 75% to sites beyond the corporate office to project sites.
  6. Be assigned to a project site with an undetermined duration, if project metrics dictate additional management onsite.
