About the role

This is a founding role. You will build the college counseling program from the ground up and establish Farm & Forge as a recognized source of well-prepared applicants among college admissions offices and college coaches.

Success in this role means developing strong student applications, helping student-athletes connect with programs that fit their academic and athletic goals, keeping families informed and confident throughout the process, and building lasting relationships with college admissions offices and coaches. Ultimately, you will help students gain admission to colleges that align with their abilities, ambitions, and goals.

What you'll do

College Admissions

  • Write a compelling counselor recommendation letter for every senior.
  • Develop the school profile and supporting materials that clearly explain our academic model to admissions offices.
  • Manage college lists, application timelines, teacher recommendations, interviews and interview preparation, and scholarship searches.
  • Guide families through financial aid, including FAFSA, CSS Profile, net price calculators, and merit-versus-need considerations.
  • Advise students and families on standardized testing strategy, including SAT/ACT planning, test-optional decisions, and PSAT/National Merit considerations.
  • Coordinate with our teachers, advisors, and coaches, as well as the counseling staff of each student’s diploma-granting online school, to ensure transcripts, recommendations, and records are complete and submitted on time.
  • Travel to colleges to meet admissions teams, explain our model, introduce our students, and build lasting relationships. Host admissions representatives on campus.
  • Lead parent education workshops on the admissions and financial aid process.
  • Track student progress and admissions outcomes and report results to families and school leadership.

Athletic Recruiting

  • Guide student-athletes and families through the recruiting process, including target school lists, outreach timelines, and coach communication.
  • Advise on NCAA Eligibility Center requirements, including core courses, GPA, and amateurism certification, and help ensure each athlete’s academic plan remains compliant.
  • Build and maintain relationships with college coaches across divisions.
  • Stay current on NCAA recruiting rules, contact periods, and deadlines, and ensure families and coaches understand applicable requirements.
