Mobius Renewables is seeking a commercially driven Business Development professional focused on sourcing industrial organic feedstocks for host-site anaerobic digestion and co-digestion opportunities. The role will identify, qualify, test, and help secure feedstock streams that can increase methane production while remaining compatible with each host site's process, infrastructure, operating limits, permits, and feedstock acceptance requirements.

This is a targeted industrial-feedstock origination role. The focus is on source-separated residuals and by-products generated by industrial production companies. Mobius is not seeking post-consumer food waste or material that requires DE packaging.

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a pipeline of industrial production companies that generate consistent, source-separated organic residuals or by-products suitable for anaerobic digestion or co-digestion.
  • Develop a strong network across food and beverage manufacturing, protein and agricultural processing, dairy processing, breweries and distilleries, and other industrial sectors with potentially digestible organic residual streams.
  • Originate opportunities directly with generators and establish relationships with plant, operations, environmental, sustainability, procurement, and waste-management decision-makers.
  • Collect the operating and commercial information needed to screen each opportunity, including feedstock type, source, expected volume, consistency, seasonality, current disposition, transportation considerations, contamination risks, and commercial expectations.
  • Coordinate representative sampling and laboratory testing of prospective feedstocks to determine whether the material is likely to provide a measurable methane-production benefit.
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, EHS/Environmental, and Project Development to evaluate feedstock compatibility with the receiving host site, including storage and handling, pretreatment needs, digester process impacts, permit constraints, and the site's ability to safely and reliably accept the material.
  • Do not advance a feedstock solely because it is available. Establish a clear technical, operational, and economic rationale for why the feedstock should be accepted at a specific host site.
  • Coordinate follow-up testing, trial loads, or site-specific validation when required before commercial scale-up.
  • Lead or support commercial discussions with feedstock generators, including supply terms, quality specifications, volume commitments, logistics responsibilities, pricing or tipping-fee structure, and remedies for off-spec material.
  • Maintain an organized funnel of prospective feedstocks and provide clear status reporting from first contact through testing, site approval, commercial negotiations, and onboarding.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure potential feedstocks support Mobius production, reliability, financial, and host-site objectives.

Feedstock Qualification Approach

  • Source qualification: Confirm the material is generated by an identifiable industrial production process and is available in a sufficiently consistent, controllable stream.
  • Material qualification: Obtain representative samples and coordinate appropriate analytical testing, including methane-potential testing when applicable, plus characteristics needed by the receiving site to assess compatibility.
  • Site fit: Match each feedstock to a specific host site based on the site's process design, receiving capability, operating envelope, existing feedstock mix, permits, and acceptance criteria.
  • Value validation: Demonstrate that expected incremental methane or other operating benefit justifies transportation, handling, testing, pretreatment, commercial, and operational requirements.
  • Controlled onboarding: Support documented approval and, where appropriate, a controlled trial before establishing recurring deliveries.

Target Feedstock Profile

  • Industrial production residuals and by-products with meaningful biodegradable organic content and methane-production potential.
  • Preference for pumpable liquids, slurries, or other materials that can be received and handled within the capabilities of the applicable host site.
  • Predictable, source-separated streams with traceable origin and reasonably consistent composition and volume.
  • Materials that can be economically transported to an appropriate Mobius host site.
  • Excluded focus: post-consumer food waste, packaged consumer waste, and materials requiring depackaging.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Agribusiness, Environmental Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Food Science, or a related field preferred; relevant industry experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • 5+ years of business development, industrial sourcing, organics/feedstock procurement, food or beverage manufacturing, agricultural processing, waste/by-product management, anaerobic digestion, renewable natural gas, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, build relationships, and develop a network of industrial production companies and decision-makers.
  • Commercial judgment with the ability to understand supply terms, transportation economics, quality specifications, and long-term supply reliability.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams and translate laboratory, operational, and site-acceptance feedback into commercial sourcing decisions.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organization, CRM/pipeline management, and follow-through skills.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote, cross-functional environment and managing multiple feedstock opportunities at different stages.
  • Ability to travel less than 20%, primarily for generator visits, host-site evaluations, sampling, trials, and strategic industry meetings.

Success Measures

  • Qualified industrial feedstock pipeline aligned to specific host-site needs.
  • Feedstock opportunities supported by representative testing and documented site acceptance review.
  • Incremental methane-production potential and commercial value established before recurring supply is implemented.
  • Reliable supply relationships with clear specifications, logistics responsibilities, and accountability for off-spec material.
  • Consistent coordination among Business Development, Engineering, Operations, EHS/Environmental, Project Development, and host-site stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a high-energy originator who enjoys building industrial relationships but is disciplined enough to qualify opportunities technically before pursuing volume. This person understands that successful feedstock development is not simply finding waste; it is finding the right material, proving its value, matching it to the right host site, and developing a dependable supply relationship that improves methane production without compromising site performance.
