This is a 6-month, fixed-term, full-time co-op role open exclusively to Massachusetts students and recent graduates who meet these eligibility requirements. Position Overview

This position will report to the Director of Portfolio Development to support the Greentown Boston incubator team. The Portfolio Development Associate will support program development and data projects that will be critical to enable the success of Greentown’s new startup recruitment and data reporting functions. 


The Associate will be responsible for supporting membership sales operations, including startup lead scouting, outreach campaigns, data system optimization, and sales data cleaning. This role will support the incubator's ability to identify, attract, and foster high-impact climate startups that fit well with Greentown Labs’ mission and membership services. Likewise, the Associate will support the delivery of the First Valley Fellowship, working closely with the Portfolio Development Manager and Director in the day-to-day delivery of the program.


This role is an opportunity to learn about climate entrepreneurship, complex sales processes, optimizing CRM systems in support of sales and program execution, and working cross-functionally across a growing organization.


What you'll do

  • Data analysis projects. Utilize internal data and market research to identify trends and opportunities. Present findings and recommendations to leadership.
  • Climate startup research and prospecting. Identify potential new members through online search. Organize lead lists and facilitate first communication. Handoff qualified leads to the Membership sales team.
  • Conduct data-entry and data-cleaning activities to maintain the integrity and accuracy of ecosystem and membership-related data.
  • Support delivery of First Valley Fellowship, including mentor matching, day-to-day program implementation, tracking resource usage.
  • Email campaign preparation. Organize leads list and draft email copy in MixMax. Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance.
  • Provide basic administrative responsibilities and hands-on technical support within Salesforce.
  • Support process improvement projects, from identification to planning to execution.
  • Support the Operations Team with general tasks in the prototyping lab and front desk and reception coverage during assigned shifts

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in business administration, data analytics, or a related field, with a strong academic record. 
  • Proficiency with the Google Workspace and Microsoft, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with database platforms such as Salesforce or other similar CRM is a plus. Experience with other tools such as FormAssembly, JotForm and MixMax is a plus.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or business operations is a plus.
  • Experience working in a startup environment or with sustainability-focused organizations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the cleantech or climatetech industry is a plus.

Additional Considerations

  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required to attend off-site events or conferences.
  • Late Hours: Evening work will be necessary for some events.

Work Location and Schedule

This role is expected to be on-site at Greentown Labs in Somerville, Massachusetts at least four days per week, with the option to work remotely one day per week. Our standard business hours are 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m..
