Business Operations (General)

About Loop

Loop is a fast-growing FinTech high growth startup that enables businesses to seamlessly manage money around the world so our clients can access more markets, accelerate their growth and simplify their operations with the only truly cross-border banking platform. Loop is enabling the next generation of businesses to thrive around the world and we are looking for ambitious people to join our mission.

Hi, I'm Sarah, Chief of Staff, at Loop. Not everyone knows exactly what they want to do and that's okay, neither do I, but I am always looking to meet ambitious people who are hungry to make an impact at a startup but aren't yet sure which path they want to specialize in. If you're excited to solve problems, wear many hats, and learn faster than you thought possible, I'd love to hear from you.

All of our roles at Loop are onsite at our downtown Toronto office (Bay and Bloor).

Where You Come In

The type of people who will do well in this role are those who are ready to jump in and make an impact across the business no matter what that is. BizOps Associates work closely with me and collaborate across teams to keep operations running smoothly and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

No two days will look the same. Our BizOps associate can be building a financial model in the morning and negotiating a vendor contract in the afternoon. They are a "Swiss Army Knife" professional; someone who is as comfortable pitching to investors as they are streamlining office logistics. If you thrive on variety, enjoy solving high-stakes problem solving, and like being the person who gets things done, you’ll do well in this role.

This role goes beyond traditional operations—we’re looking for someone who is both highly execution-oriented and analytically strong, and who is excited to operate across technical, financial, and strategic workstreams.

What Our Business Operations Associate Do at Loop

They partner with the Chief of Staff to execute key business operations initiatives, pitching in across departments including:

  • Strategic & Capital Initiatives: This includes preparing materials for investor relations, participating in investor pitching, and building financial models to support our growth.
  • Technical & Product Ops: Bridge the gap between business and product by building prototypes, automating workflows, and using SQL to extract insights from our data.
  • Commercial & Legal Support: Support the "deal" side of the business by reviewing legal documents, conducting due diligence, and negotiating commercial terms with partners and vendors.
  • Project Management: Work across teams to ensure they stay on track and focused on priorities, helping unblock them where needed.
  • Office Operations: Keep our downtown Toronto office running smoothly and help coordinate marketing campaigns or social content as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience in operations, finance, consulting, or a high-growth startup environment.
  • Analytical Power: Proficiency with SQL and advanced financial modelling (Excel/Google Sheets).
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to digest legal docs and a comfort level with (or desire to learn) commercial negotiations.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; you can craft a narrative for a pitch deck and a clear email to a partner with equal ease.
  • The "Startup" Mindset: A proactive doer who loves variety and doesn’t mind wearing multiple hats.
  • Technical Curiosity: Comfort with tools like Notion, Slack, and G Suite, and an interest in building prototypes or testing new internal tools.
  • In-Person Collaboration: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, in-person startup environment in Toronto.

It’s a Bonus if You Have

  • Experience in FinTech or high-growth Tech.
  • Experience in Investment Banking, VC, or Management Consulting.
  • Experience working with small, agile teams where you had to build processes from scratch.

People You'll Be Working With

What's in it for you?

  • You'll have a front-row seat to how a company runs, with direct exposure to leadership and high-impact projects
  • You'll be involved in meaningful strategic work with our partners and collaborators
  • Learn a ton, and be empowered to take ownership
  • Grow into a role that suits your experience, passion and skills
  • Chance to shape the country’s thriving fintech startup ecosystem
