About the Position

We’re hiring a Research Fellow who will play an essential role in supporting the work of our growing social media and video teams. The Research Fellow will help us to maintain a constant flow of highly engaging, newsy social media content that informs and inspires our audience. They must have a strong background in conducting fact-checking and original research and care deeply about reporting news that impacts working people through social media and video journalism.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct original research and reporting to be used in compelling and informative vertical videos and other social media content; 
• Monitor legislative hearings, press conferences, public forums, earnings calls and more, file records requests, and maintain tracking spreadsheets; 
• Identify emerging news and trending topics from both traditional news sources as well as social media; 
• Fact-check social media content such as video scripts and Instagram carousels; 
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet expected deadlines;
• Maintain high standard of work in a nimble, fast paced environment;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications

• Professional experience fact-checking and conducting research, preferably as part of a newsroom;
• Passion for, and substantial knowledge of, national politics and economic justice issues;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Proficiency in social media platforms including Twitter/X with a strong understanding of current trends;
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a social media team;
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of following directions and meeting tight deadlines;
• Available full-time hours and able to excel in a remote/work-from-home environment.
