What you’ll be doing

As a Director of Engineering, you will provide senior executive leadership focused on technical excellence, high availability, and the automation of complex financial processes.

• Strategic Leadership: Play a pivotal role in shaping the technical vision and growing our SaaS platform capabilities across the organization.
• Roadmap Ownership: Own the technical roadmap and strategic vision for your business domain, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives.
• Scale & Mentorship: Lead and scale an organization of 30+ engineers, directly managing multiple Engineering Managers and fostering a culture of high performance, ownership, and career growth.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee the development and operation of mission-critical systems, ensuring strict transactional integrity, zero data loss, and real-time reconciliation.
• Reliability & SRE: Establish and enforce world-class Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to achieve ultra-high availability and rapid incident resolution.
• Security & Compliance: Partner with Security and Compliance departments to ensure systems are designed for audit readiness and strictly enforce security controls (e.g., encryption, access management).
• Executive Communication: Communicate technical strategy, operational health, and platform risks clearly and concisely to the VP of Engineering and other executive stakeholders.

Who we’re looking for

• Leadership Depth: Proven experience leading an engineering organization of 30+ people, including a track record of successfully managing other managers.
• SaaS Expertise: Direct experience building and operating highly-available SaaS platforms within FinTech or other highly regulated industries.
• Technical Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of immutable data patterns, ledger systems, and complex financial logic.
• Architecture Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), including hands-on experience with message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub, SQS/SNS), event sourcing, and CQRS.
• Compliance Mindset: Expertise in maintaining compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, PCI DSS) by implementing technical controls directly into engineering workflows.
• Reliability Focus: Strong track record of defining and meeting stringent SLOs and managing Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
• Influence: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex technical data to executive leadership and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
