Field Service Technician

Position Summary

A "Field Service Technician" is an individual contributor technical position responsible for performing complex diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance on NEXIO vehicles. This role involves actively participating in hands-on technical work and requires a high level of expertise across mechanical, electrical, and software systems, including a deep understanding of the technologies and maintenance practices involved. The Field Service Technician supports vehicles throughout the Demo, Production, and Post-Launch phases, ensuring technical readiness, system reliability, and effective service execution through approved Service Centers.

Additionally, a technician may be required to travel to customer locations to provide on-site support, troubleshoot complex issues, oversee installations, assist with vehicle delivery, and train Service Center technicians. The Field Service Technician operates within NEXIO’s OEM after-sales model, working under the technical authority of the Lead Technician and the operational accountability of the Service Operations Manager.

They are also responsible for promoting and ensuring safety awareness and education, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations, and developing leadership skills. This role focuses on hands-on technical execution within a collaborative service model, working in partnership with Service Centers and internal teams.


Role Mission

Ensure NEXIO customers remain operational by delivering fast, effective field service support that minimizes downtime and builds long-term customer confidence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics and support repairs and maintenance on NEXIO vehicles across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Identify root causes of complex issues and drive implementation of effective, lasting solutions
  • Provide field support across all phases: Demo, Production readiness, and Post-Launch operations
  • Assist with vehicle delivery, validation, and early production support activities
  • Provide technical escalation support for complex field issues through approved Service Centers
  • Train and support Service Center technicians to ensure independent service capability

 Customer Support

  • Act as the on-site technical representative for NEXIO customers
  • Communicate repair timelines, findings, and service recommendations clearly to customers
  • Build strong customer relationships through professionalism and responsiveness
  • Escalate major technical concerns to internal leadership when needed

Technical & Problem-Solving

  • Apply structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis to diagnose complex system failures
  • Proactively identify risks and potential issues before escalation
  • Support long-term reliability and continuous improvement of vehicle systems

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate clearly with team members and engineering, as well as customers and management
  • Translate technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders
  • Provide timely updates and support cross-functional alignment
  • Work closely with Service Center partners and cross-functional teams to enable high-quality repairs and maintenance through technical expertise, training, and field execution support

Safety & Quality

  • Prioritize propane safety above all other responsibilities, ensuring all related work is performed with the highest level of care and adherence to safety standards
  • Follow all safety protocols and actively promote a strong safety-first culture across all work environments
  • Conduct inspections and support compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices
  • Identify potential hazards proactively and take appropriate action to mitigate risks before work is performed
  • Verify all work meets quality expectations and is completed correctly the first time


Qualifications

Required

  • Associates Degree or work equivalent
  • OEM Advanced Technical certification or equivalent:
  • Military, diesel or auto mechanical experience
  • 3–7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Diagnostics
    • Advanced diagnostics
    • Strong mechanical troubleshooting
    • Vehicle Systems
    • Auto or diesel repair
    • Alternative fuel vehicle systems
    • Heavy-Duty Platforms
    • Heavy-duty truck service
    • Heavy equipment repair
  • Ability to travel frequently

Preferred

  • Experience working on Class 7–8 trucks
  • Experience with propane systems
  • Electrical diagnostics experience
  • OEM service experience
  • CDL license
  • Familiarity with telematics systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and work underneath vehicles
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to travel frequently by vehicle and air as needed


Work Environment

This role operates primarily in customer field locations, fleet yards, service environments, and vehicle deployment sites.

The position requires intermittent travel to site locations with additional visits to NEXIO headquarters in Lufkin/ Nacogdoches for training, product updates, and coordination with engineering/manufacturing teams.
