Sales Engineer, Northwest U.S. Territory

JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Sales Engineer drives revenue and profit growth for OBR Cooling Towers in the Northwest U.S. Territory by maintaining existing customer relationships and expanding business through new client acquisition. Responsibilities include delivering sales, construction services, and parts to OBR customers. 

This role reports to the VP of Sales and Business Development and requires travel as needed, along with office-based administrative and planning tasks. Compensation is salary-based with potential performance incentives. 

ROLES/TASKS OF THE POSITION 

  • Conduct business development and customer meetings to assess cooling tower conditions, repairs, upgrades, and parts needs. 
  • Prepare estimates, support project management, and perform field inspections, including facility entry, condition assessments, reports, and scope development. 
  • Communicate findings and solutions effectively to clients. 
  • Drive growth in assigned territory by identifying new business opportunities and expanding customer relationships. 
  • Partner with customers to assess cooling tower needs, recommend improvements, and develop action plans. 
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by resolving issues and providing technical support, including troubleshooting and site process evaluations. 
  • Conduct site visits for quoting, job execution, and safety/access assessments; communicate requirements with construction and safety teams 
  • Manage regional scheduling of jobs and crews, including assignments, timelines, and customer communication 
  • Handle administrative tasks such as job documentation, expense reporting, meetings, and use of Outlook, Top Builder, and Viewpoint systems. 
  • Support development of site-specific safety and quality documentation. 
  • Build professional relationships with plant and facility management. 
  • Prepare estimates, proposals, and present solutions to customers. 
  • Represent OBR at meetings, trainings, and trade shows. 
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams (design/drafting, engineering, safety, quality, accounting) while maintaining a positive attitude. 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • An engineering degree and/or a minimum of 10 years of cooling tower experience, along with at least 5 years of cooling tower sales experience. 
  • Experience prospecting, estimating, quoting and generating sales, P&L management and maintaining accounts. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good organizational skills and mechanical aptitude. 
  • Fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project. 
  • Self-starter with willingness to learn, collaborate, contribute, and work with a sense of urgency. 

 

PREREQUISITES & REQUIREMENTS 

  • Negative 10 panel urinalysis and breath alcohol test. 
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of U.S. Citizenship. 
  • Satisfactory background check.
