The Colony Surf Lounge Operating Partner is the business owner and strategic leader of PopStroke’s surf-focused lifestyle venue, uniquely tasked with transforming it into a premier hospitality, recreation, and membership destination that sets itself apart as the only venue offering a vibrant fusion of surf culture, community engagement, and exclusive experiences.

 

This leader owns all aspects of the Surf Lounge, including:

  • Surf programming
  • Surf lessons
  • Membership sales
  • Guest experience

  • Event programming
  • Food & beverage operations
  • Staffing
  • Revenue growth
  • Venue activation

This is not simply an operations role.

 

This leader must build a high-energy, hospitality-driven surf destination that creates demand from:

The Colony Surf Lounge Operating Partner must combine hospitality, sales, operational excellence, and brand-building to make this venue “the place to be.”

Key Responsibilities

Full Surf Lounge Ownership

  • Lead all aspects of Surf Lounge operations
  • Own daily business performance
  • Ensure the venue is consistently active and revenue-generating
  • Oversee surf experiences, lessons, lounge spaces, and hospitality
  • Maximize venue utilization
  • Build the Surf Lounge into a flagship destination
  • Maintain exceptional service standards
  • Work in conjunction with PopStroke Colony leadership to ensure cross-brand engagement and business alignment

Membership Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Own membership growth strategy
  • Drive:
    • Membership enrollments
    • Surf lesson sales
    • Repeat guest visits
    • Group bookings
    • Event sales
    • Private parties
    • Community activations
  • Build scalable membership funnels
  • Ensure surf instruction drives long-term guest retention
  • Maximize every guest touchpoint for revenue opportunity

Surf Programming & Guest Activation

  • Develop surf lessons and training programs
  • Build beginner-to-advanced programming
  • Partner with instructors and surf staff
  • Create competitions, surf nights, camps, and special events
  • Build a community around surf culture
  • Ensure both active participants and spectators are engaged
  • Create reasons for guests to stay, spend, and return

Hospitality & Lifestyle Leadership

  • Deliver premium guest experiences
  • Blend hospitality with sales execution
  • Build a recognizable local social identity
  • Partner with marketing to drive awareness
  • Build local partnerships
  • Foster surf, fitness, and community relationships
