Strategy & Operations Manager

Who We Are:

We're revolutionizing the tattoo industry, and we're looking for talented people to help us do it. Most studios still run on outdated booking and business management tools. Porter changes that with all-in-one software built specifically for tattoo artists and shops. Beyond customer intake and calendar management, Porter handles payments (including a POS terminal), CRM, marketing, and payroll—everything a studio needs to run, in one place.

What you'll do:

As Strategy & Operations Manager at Porter, you'll work directly with the founders to take on the company's highest-leverage strategic and operational projects. We'll hand you a problem; you'll own it end-to-end. That means breaking it down, pulling and analyzing the data yourself, designing experiments, forming a recommendation, and driving it all the way through to implementation.

The projects span the whole business. You'll work cross functionally across every team at Porter to help optimize every aspect of the business. You'll work with Sales & Customer Success to optimize our outbound strategy, help identify gaps in our prospecting flows, and drive growth and retention for Porter. You'll work with Marketing to optimize our inbound pipeline and better convert website leads to paying customers. You'll work with Finance to analyze pricing & packaging and identify opportunities to better capture the market. These are just a few examples of the types of projects you'll own - but in essence, you will be an operator & executor that plugs in across all teams at Porter to help the business run more efficiently.

You'll be joining a small, high-output team where you'll have real ownership and a direct line to the founders. If you like ambiguity, moving fast, wearing multiple hats, and seeing projects go from a one-line ask to a shipped outcome, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Own high-priority strategic and operational projects end-to-end — scope the problem, pull and analyze the data, form a recommendation, and drive it through to implementation with minimal oversight
  • Help to identify operational inefficiencies across all Porter functions and develop recommendations to improve the business
  • Design, run, and analyze tests & experiments across our sales, marketing, and customer success funnels
  • Dig into the business through data — write SQL queries against production data, build models in spreadsheets, and surface insights that shape strategy across growth, sales, and retention
  • Support hiring as we grow — working with the founders on team planning and sourcing candidates
  • Build and improve operational processes, from new-shop data migrations to logistics like terminal fulfillment
  • Take ownership of recurring operational workstreams — accounting reconciliation reporting, email deliverability analysis, and more technical customer support — freeing up the founding team to focus elsewhere
  • Report progress and recommendations clearly and directly to the founders

What we're looking for:

  • 4–6 years of experience in management consulting, startup operations/BizOps, or a similarly analytical, high-ownership role
  • A track record of running projects independently — you can take an ambiguous problem, break it down, and drive it to completion without hand-holding
  • Proficiency with SQL and genuine comfort querying data to answer your own questions
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills — you can build a model, run an analysis, and pressure-test the numbers
  • Hands-on comfort with operational tooling (e.g., HubSpot, Retool, Customer.io); you're not afraid to get technical
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, paired with sound business judgment
  • Excellent communicator who can synthesize messy work into clear, actionable recommendations
  • A bias for action and a real ownership mentality — you'd rather ship and iterate than wait for perfect
  • Comfortable thriving in a small-team, high-ownership startup environment
  • Genuine interest in building products that serve creative professionals and small businesses

Benefits:

  • Flexible working hours and a remote-first policy
  • Flexible PTO
  • Paid parental leave
  • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance
  • Work-from-home stipend
  • 401K
