Role Overview
Psomagen is seeking an experienced Scientific Product Manager to own and grow our cutting-edge Multi-omics service portfolio (Single Cell, Spatial Genomics, Olink Proteomics). This is a critical on-site role at the center of Sales, Lab Operations, Bioinformatics (BI), and Clients. You will be the owner of these service offerings: defining what we sell, how it is scoped and priced, and how it is delivered, so that Sales can sell it with confidence and the lab can deliver it consistently.
The primary KPIs of this role are twofold: (1) to support Sales by providing the technical depth, product knowledge, and accurate commercial documents that help win and grow business, and (2) to align closely with the Psomagen laboratory so that every offering runs as a seamless, repeatable process across the entire business life cycle, from service design and quotation through sample intake, execution, data delivery, and customer feedback. You will combine scientific credibility with product thinking: understanding the customer, shaping the offering, and continuously improving it.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Sales Support & Revenue Growth
● Contribution of technical and product support to proposal win rate, pipeline conversion, and revenue growth of the Single Cell, Spatial, and Olink portfolio.
● Quote turnaround time and quote/SOW accuracy (error and revision rate before client submission).
● Sales enablement effectiveness: adoption of product materials, training, and standard proposal templates by the sales team.
● Repeat business, follow-on projects, and account expansion driven by strong offerings and client relationships.
Lab Alignment & Seamless Business Life Cycle
● Alignment between what is sold and what the lab can deliver: completeness and quality of sales-to-lab handoffs and fewer scope changes after kickoff.
● Service performance: on-time delivery against committed turnaround times, first-pass success rate, and reduction in rework and re-runs.
● New and updated offerings launched on schedule with lab readiness, validated workflows, and trained sales staff.
● Speed and quality of issue resolution and client satisfaction (CSAT/NPS) at project close.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Portfolio Strategy & Profitability:
● Own the service portfolio, roadmap, and portfolio profitability for Single Cell, Spatial Genomics, and Olink Proteomics, including service definitions, standard packages, deliverables, specifications, and turnaround times.
● Work with Sales, Finance, and Lab leadership to develop pricing and packaging that is competitive, profitable, and operationally realistic.
● Monitor market trends, competitor CRO offerings, and new platforms, chemistries, and applications; build business cases for new or enhanced services.
Technical Sales Support & Solution Design:
● Thoroughly understand Psomagen’s laboratory workflows and technical capabilities, and represent the lab and the product with credibility when the sales team discusses projects with clients.
● Identify clients’ complex scientific requirements and research objectives, and translate them into optimal experimental design and customized solutions built on our standard offerings.
Quote, SOW & Commercial Review:
● Collaborate closely with the sales team to ensure the discussed project scope is accurately translated into a realistic, feasible, and profitable quote.
● Conduct final inspections of quotes drafted by the sales team, including technical specifications, Statement of Work (SOW), and experimental conditions, to prevent errors and scope gaps.
● Identify recurring custom requests and quote issues and convert them into standardized offerings, templates, or pricing updates.
Lab Alignment & Life Cycle Process Ownership:
● Partner with Lab Operations and BI to ensure that workflows, SOPs, capacity, sample QC criteria, and data deliverables match what is sold to clients.
● Define and maintain standard sales-to-lab handoff requirements so that discussed projects run seamlessly within the lab.
● Closely monitor project progress across the life cycle (sample receipt, experiment, data analysis, delivery) and lead cross-functional reviews among Sales, Lab, and BI to remove bottlenecks.
New Service Launch & Sales Enablement:
● Lead the launch of new and updated offerings: coordinate pilots and validation with the lab and BI, define launch criteria, and confirm readiness before offerings are sold.
● Develop sales enablement materials, including service datasheets, FAQs, sample submission guidelines, proposal templates, and technical training for the sales team.
Client Communication & Issue Resolution:
● Communicate directly with clients when additional alignment, updates, or scientific consultation are needed, maintaining transparency and building strong relationships of trust.
● Provide prompt and professional technical responses based on scientific analysis when unexpected issues or sample quality problems arise during experimentation.
● Partner with the lab and BI teams to identify root causes and deliver balanced solutions that consider both client satisfaction and the company’s interests.
Voice of Customer & Quality Monitoring:
● Continuously gather client and sales feedback, track service quality and performance metrics, and deliver actionable feedback to the laboratory.
● Translate customer insights into product improvements, protocol and SOP updates, and roadmap priorities that drive service enhancement.
Vendor & Platform Partnerships:
● Maintain close technical communication and partnerships with core reagent and platform vendors related to Single Cell, Spatial, and Olink services (e.g., 10x Genomics, Olink), staying ahead of product updates, new kits, and protocol changes that affect our offerings.
Qualifications
● Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences field.
● Experience: Prior experience in Product Management, NGS-related Technical Sales, Field Application Support (FAS), or Scientific Product/Project Management within a CRO, service, or life science tools organization is preferred.
● Platform Expertise: Strong technical understanding of Single Cell (10x Genomics), Spatial Biology (Visium, Xenium), or Proteomics (Olink) platforms and workflows.
● Product Management Skills: Ability to define service offerings, gather and prioritize requirements, build roadmaps, and drive launches and improvements across Sales, Lab, and BI teams without direct authority.
● Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to smoothly collaborate and coordinate with lab researchers, sales/marketing teams, bioinformatics, external clients, and global vendors.
Preferred Skills
● Deep understanding of the genomics/proteomics analysis service market (CRO market), competitor landscape, and an existing network.
● Strategic thinking skills to derive clear value stories and solutions amidst complex and multifaceted client feedback.
● Experience with pricing, go-to-market planning, or product launch in a service or life science environment.
● Data management and collaborative flexibility (experience utilizing CRMs like HubSpot/Salesforce or LIMS is a plus).
Benefits
● 100% employer-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
● 401(k) plan with 5% company match (after one year of employment)
● Paid time off (PTO) with rollover or cash-out option
● Long-term service vacation cash-out program
● 2 hours of paid leave for annual medical check-up
● Team lunch allowance and drinkware reimbursement
● Visa sponsorship available when applicable
● Monetary gifts for major life events (congratulatory and condolence support)
Salary Range: $70,000 – $110,000 base per year (Final offer will be determined by candidate’s experience, skills, and seniority) plus an aggressive commission/incentive structure based on business performance and revenue growth.
