Reserv

General Liability Adjuster- dedicated account

About Reserv

Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike. We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can't wait to meet you.

About the role

We're building a dedicated claims pod for an account and we're hiring two General Liability Adjusters to own it alongside a Team Lead. Because this is a single, focused account, you won't be spread thin across a dozen unrelated programs. You'll go deep, build real expertise in this book of business, and become the person the client trusts.

You'll speak with customers directly, educate them, and guide each claim to the best possible outcome. You'll manage an inventory of claims, triage the critical ones, and deliver for everyone involved. The general liability work here spans Premise, Habitational, Risk Transfer, Construction, and more including complex injury exposure.

This is a chance to help build a tech-driven claims org from the inside. If you've ever wished claims work were smarter and less manual, this is where you get to make that real.

Who you are

  • A passionate adjuster who genuinely cares about the customer and their experience.
  • Empathetic and patient — with customers, claimants, and colleagues alike.
  • Someone who moves with urgency without burning out.
  • Creative in resolution. You find the right exit ramp for a claim, in the insured's best interest.
  • Comfortable with conflict. It doesn't have to be adversarial — but it does have to be a conversation.
  • Curious. You dig for the full story so you can make the right calls early and action them fast.
  • Anti-status-quo. You don't just wish things were done better; you do something about it.
  • A clear communicator. (We'd love to hear what that word means to you.)
  • In possession of a sense of humor. Claims are hard enough as it is.

What you'll do

  • Handle all aspects of General Liability claims including Slip and Falls, Habitational, Risk Transfer, Construction, and New York Labor Law among them.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, high-quality service to policyholders and claimants: answer calls, file claims, and resolve requests.
  • Gather the information needed to initiate a claim, and explain policy, coverage, and the appropriate course of action.
  • Manage an inventory of general liability claims, analyze coverage, and flag potential coverage issues.
  • Establish initial reserves for all potential exposures and adjust them appropriately throughout the life of the claim.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, policy provisions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, insureds, and attorneys within your approved payment authority.
  • Direct outside investigators and client counsel to resolve claims, working closely with the client throughout.
  • Contribute to our claims guidelines, best practices, and process improvements — your input shapes how the team works.
  • Keep learning: court decisions, evolving guidelines, and policy changes that affect the work.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' General Liability claims experience (Premise, Habitational, Risk Transfer, BOPs, Dwelling). Construction, Employers, and Liquor Liability/Dram Shop experience a plus.
  • Experience with complex, litigated third-party bodily injury and property damage claims.
  • Strong policy interpretation skills, including drafting Reservation of Rights letters and coverage declinations.
  • Active adjuster license: resident-state license where available, otherwise a Designated Home State (DHS) license. Willing to obtain any additional required licenses within 60 days, including state testing.
  • Sound judgment analyzing complex data and making decisions within established guidelines.
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent industry experience. JD or professional insurance designations a plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client and claims needs.

Benefits

  • Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
  • Competitive PTO policy – we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!
  • Generous family leave policy after 8 months of continuous work
  • Work from anywhere to facilitate your work life balance
  • Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other quality-of-life equipment you may want. Technology is something that should make your life easier, not harder!

This is one of two roles we're hiring for this account. We're also looking for a General Liability Claims Team Lead — if that's more your speed, ask us about it.

At Reserv, we value diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences and believe that diversity in viewpoints and critical thinking drives innovation, first-principles thinking, and success. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage those from all walks of life to apply. If you believe you are a good fit for this role, we would love to hear from you!
