Position:  Vice President of Sales
Corporate Office:  San Ramon, California

Application Screening Process:  RheoSense seeks accomplished leaders with demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, building high-performing teams, and scaling commercial operations. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and submit all required application materials will be evaluated through a multi-stage selection process that may include a written questionnaire, video assessment, interviews, presentations, and professional reference verification.
Salary: The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $215,000, with eligibility for an annual performance-based incentive opportunity targeted at 20% to 30% of base salary, subject to individual and company performance. Incentive compensation is discretionary and not guaranteed.

The successful candidate's starting compensation will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. It is not typical for new hires to be placed at or near the top of the salary range.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Define and execute the company's overall sales strategy, aligning revenue objectives with corporate goals, market opportunities, and long-term growth plans.
  • Own and drive global revenue performance, including sales attainment, pipeline health, forecast error-free, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing sales organization by recruiting, developing, coaching, and retaining top-tier sales talent and leaders.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, key performance indicators (KPIs), and accountability measures to drive consistent execution and results.
  • Develop and optimize go-to-market strategies, including territory alignment, account segmentation, channel partnerships, and sales coverage models.
  • Lead complex, strategic sales opportunities and maintain executive-level relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Drive adoption and utilization of CRM and sales enablement tools to improve visibility, forecasting, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Expand revenue streams through solution-based selling across RheoSense's portfolio of instruments, consumables, software, service agreements, and related offerings.
  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, customer applications, industry segments, and geographic regions to accelerate growth.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing to align demand generation, lead management, messaging, and market positioning efforts.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product Development teams to translate customer needs and market insights into product enhancements and future innovations.
  • Work closely with Operations and Customer Success teams to ensure a seamless customer experience throughout the sales and post-sale lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage sales forecasts, budgets, strategic plans, and performance reporting to support informed business decisions.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, customer requirements, and industry developments to inform commercial strategy and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and customer-centricity aligned with RheoSense's core principles of Efficiency, Error-Free execution, and End-User Focus.
  • Represent RheoSense at customer meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and other business development activities.
  • Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership regarding sales performance, business opportunities, risks, and growth initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of organizational objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, Marketing, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive sales experience, including significant experience selling technical, scientific, analytical, industrial, or capital equipment solutions.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales leadership experience, including leading managers, regional sales leaders, or multi-level sales organizations.
  • Demonstrated success driving revenue growth and achieving or exceeding sales targets at the organizational level.
  • Proven experience developing and executing sales strategies that support business growth, market expansion, and customer acquisition.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, executive buyers, and technical decision-makers.
  • Strong working knowledge of sales forecasting, pipeline management, CRM systems, and sales performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing sales professionals and leaders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and business acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable business decisions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across sales, marketing, engineering, operations, and executive leadership teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support customer relationships, team leadership, and business objectives.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, MS, PhD, or other advanced degree.
  • Experience within scientific instrumentation, analytical equipment, laboratory technologies, materials characterization, metrology, life sciences, or other technical B2B industries.
  • Experience scaling a sales organization within a startup, growth-stage, or rapidly expanding company.
  • Experience leading global or multi-region sales teams.
  • Demonstrated success selling a portfolio that includes equipment, consumables, recurring service contracts, and software solutions.
  • Familiarity with viscometry, rheology, fluid characterization, or related measurement technologies.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing CRM, sales enablement, forecasting, and commercial operations processes.
  • Proven ability to establish strategic partnerships, distribution channels, and new market opportunities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to participate in customer visits, trade shows, conferences, product demonstrations, and other field-based activities.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and transport materials, product samples, or trade show equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods during meetings, presentations, customer engagements, and travel.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, mobile devices, and communication systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and remote work environments.
