RouteGenie

Business Analyst

RouteGenie is a modern, all-in-one software platform designed for medical transportation providers. We help businesses streamline and automate routing, scheduling, dispatching, billing, and fleet management—empowering them to reduce costs, improve on-time performance, and deliver better service to their customers and communities.

As a Business Analyst, you bridge business stakeholders and our engineering team, turning product needs into clear, actionable specifications so developers and QA can build the right solution the first time.

You'll join our Business Analysis team and report to the Lead Business Analyst. You'll independently own requirements for a set of assigned product areas — writing the specs, running the discovery, and answering the team's questions — while following the requirements standards and quality gates the Lead BA sets and reviews against. This is a role built to grow our BA function: your work lets requirements be split by product area instead of one analyst carrying everything.

You do not need prior NEMT or healthcare-transportation experience — we'll onboard you on the domain. We're looking for a strong analyst and communicator.

This is a direct Independent Contractor engagement (not through an EOR or staffing firm), fully remote, with daily working-hours overlap with our European/Ukraine-based team.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze, gather, and document business requirements for assigned product areas.
  • Translate product concepts into implementation-ready functional specifications and well-formed user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Provide timely clarification to developers and QA throughout implementation.
  • Review and refine requirements based on feedback from the Lead BA and stakeholders.
  • Analyze existing system behavior and integrations when defining requirements.
  • Identify edge cases, dependencies, and technical constraints early.
  • Facilitate requirements discussions and discovery sessions with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Communicate technical constraints in business terms and manage expectations on scope, timeline, and trade-offs.
  • Create and maintain process flows, data models, business-rule and functional documentation..
  • Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, and estimation with ready-for-development stories.
  • Validate delivered features against requirements.
  • Follow and help improve the team's requirements, standards, and templates.

Tools & Techniques You'll Use

  • Documentation & collaboration: Jira, Confluence, Google Docs, Lucidchart/Miro, Figma.
  • Requirements techniques: user story writing, acceptance criteria (Gherkin), use-case modeling, process mapping (BPMN), data modeling, wireframing.
  • Technical awareness: REST APIs, database concepts, SQL; working familiarity with Django/Python and Angular is a plus (not required).
  • Agile: Scrum ceremonies, backlog refinement, Definition of Ready / Definition of Done, estimation.
  • AI: AI-assisted productivity tools for research, documentation, and knowledge discovery.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • 2+ years of business analysis experience in software development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sharp attention to detail.
  • Upper-Intermediate (B2+) English or higher for written and verbal communication in English.
  • Hands-on experience with agile methodologies and user story writing.
  • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence (or similar tools).
  • SQL for data validation and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned areas while taking direction on standards from a Lead BA.

Nice to Have:

  • CBAP certification or equivalent.
  • Technical background or familiarity with software architecture.
  • SaaS product experience.
  • Background in transportation, logistics, or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with NEMT/paratransit workflows or healthcare compliance (HIPAA).
  • Process modeling (BPMN, UML).

Why You’ll Love Working Here
