The Role

We are looking for a Senior Database Developer – SQL Server to join our Engineering team.

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining database solutions, supporting production environments, resolving complex data issues, and performing data imports, migrations and corrections.

A key focus of the role is the ability to safely investigate and fix production data, develop reliable SQL scripts, and work with tools such as PowerShell and SSIS to import and transform data.

The successful candidate will also have a good understanding of accounting concepts and ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities

Database Development

  • Participate in solution design and development of database solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, SQL scripts and database objects.
  • Extract, analyse and mine data using SQL.
  • Optimise complex SQL queries, Stored Procedures and Views.
  • Participate in database code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.
  • Assess the impact of change requests and develop appropriate database solutions.

Production Data Support & Correction

  • Investigate and resolve complex production data issues.
  • Identify incorrect, missing, duplicated or inconsistent data and determine the root cause.
  • Develop and execute safe data correction scripts in production.
  • Assess the impact of data changes before implementation.
  • Apply appropriate validation, backup and rollback strategies for production data changes.
  • Validate corrected data and ensure the issue has been fully resolved.
  • Document data corrections, root causes and preventative actions.
  • Work with Development, Support, BA and other teams to resolve data-related production issues.

Data Import, Migration & Conversion

  • Develop and execute data import and migration solutions using:
    • SQL scripts
    • SSIS
    • Other appropriate data integration tools.
  • Perform data mapping, transformation and validation.
  • Develop repeatable and reliable data import processes.

Accounting & ERP Data

  • Good understanding of accounting concepts and ERP systems.
  • Understand how financial and transactional data is represented within an ERP/DMS.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve data discrepancies while considering their business and financial impact.
  • Work with BA and other stakeholders to validate data corrections and ensure the expected business outcome.

Database Performance

  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues.
  • Analyse execution plans and query performance.
  • Optimise SQL queries, Stored Procedures and database structures.

Technical Requirements

Essential

  • 5+ years of strong SQL Server / SQL development experience.
  • Strong T-SQL skills.
  • Strong experience writing complex Stored Procedures and SQL scripts.
  • Strong hands-on experience fixing and correcting data in production environments.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Good experience with SSIS.
  • Experience with SQL Server Agent Jobs.
  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning and indexing.
  • Strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good knowledge of accounting concepts and ERP systems.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting an ERP, DMS, Accounting or Financial system.
  • Experience investigating data discrepancies.
  • Experience working in a SaaS production environment.
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies.

AI & Engineering Productivity

Titan is adopting AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity.

The successful candidate should be comfortable using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot or similar for:

  • SQL analysis and optimisation.
  • Investigating data issues.
  • Generating and reviewing SQL scripts.
  • Analysing complex datasets.
  • Creating data validation scripts.
  • Technical documentation.
  • Troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Automating repetitive database tasks.

Candidates should be able to review and validate AI-generated output, particularly before executing scripts against production data.
