As Sr. Manager, GL Accounting in our Finance function supporting the Spine Division, you’ll lead the general ledger, financial close, reporting, and internal controls for U.S. operations — ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality financial information while developing a high-performing accounting team in a dynamic medical device environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and develop the GL Accounting team, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development
  • Oversee all general ledger and sub-ledger activities, ensuring timely and accurate account reconciliations and GL integrity
  • Own the full month-end and year-end financial closing process, including oversight of journal entries for accruals, deferrals, allocations, and adjustments
  • Establish, enforce, and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure U.S.-based expenditures are properly identified, tracked, reported, and analyzed in compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, and corporate standards
  • Direct the preparation and submission of actual results reporting to Corporate via Hyperion (or similar systems)
  • Oversee the capital appropriation process, fixed asset system, and related accounting activities
  • Strengthen the internal control environment through documentation, monitoring, and process improvements
  • Lead the preparation of monthly projections, annual budgets, and forecasts for key P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow items
  • Analyze complex accounting issues, provide business-oriented insights, and drive resolution of variances or discrepancies
  • Partner cross-functionally and act as a trusted financial advisor to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure audit readiness, financial reporting integrity, and support of ad hoc analysis and special projects
  • Drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices across the GL and close processes


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA and/or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, with a strong focus on general ledger management
  • 3+ years of people leadership / management experience preferred
  • Deep hands-on experience with full-cycle month-end and year-end financial closing and reporting processes
  • Strong working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and proven ability to establish and maintain an effective internal control environment
  • Strong analytical skills with a business perspective and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
  • Industry experience in a manufacturing, sales, and inventory-based company (medical device, healthcare, or similar preferred)
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles/procedures
  • Proficiency with integrated financial systems (e.g., Oracle or similar ERP), Hyperion, Cognos, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment

Compensation:
Pay for this role is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and performance. The typical pay range for this position is $150,000.00 – $165,000.00 annually, with potential for bonuses, incentives, and long-term incentives plus benefits. Final compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis and considers a variety of factors including experience level, leadership experience, skillset, and certifications (e.g., CPA).
