Hospital Manager - ER Department

Lead a Hospital. Develop a Team. Make an Impact.

We’re looking for an experienced Hospital Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy ER Department

This is a key leadership role for someone who enjoys being visible and hands-on, developing people, improving how a hospital operates, and creating an environment where both teams and patients can thrive.

Our hospital combines Primary Care and Emergency services, bringing together a team of 40+ veterinary professionals who are passionate about delivering excellent patient care.

If you’re an experienced veterinary leader looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely influence culture, performance and the continued development of a hospital, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Hospital

You'll be joining a close-knit and supportive team of 40+ team members, including 8 DVMs and 5 RVTs.

As a hybrid hospital offering both Emergency and Primary Care, we provide an interesting and varied environment where no two days are quite the same.

We also work alongside specialists who visit the hospital to provide additional services to our patients and are proud to operate one of the few community veterinary blood banks in California.

Our team values excellent patient care, collaboration and working together as one.

The Role

As Hospital Manager, you'll take ownership of the operational performance of the hospital while creating the structure, leadership and support our teams need to perform at their best.

You'll work closely with our clinical and operational leaders, balancing the needs of our people, patients, clients and business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the day-to-day operational performance of the hospital.
  • Overseeing staffing, scheduling, workflows and resource planning.
  • Building, coaching and developing a high-performing and engaged team.
  • Setting clear expectations and creating a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and hospital performance.
  • Leading teams effectively through operational and organisational change.
  • Driving compliance, quality standards and operational consistency.
  • Supporting an excellent experience for our clients and their pets.
  • Partnering closely with veterinary and operational leadership.
  • Supporting the continued growth and success of the hospital.

About You

We're looking for an experienced, confident and approachable leader who is comfortable being hands-on and present within the hospital.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of veterinary medicine experience, ideally within a leadership or management role.
  • Previous experience within an Emergency veterinary environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong people leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing change and bringing teams with you.
  • A structured and proactive approach to hospital operations.
  • The confidence to set expectations, make decisions and hold people accountable.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build strong partnerships with DVMs and clinical leaders.

Above all, we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys leading people and wants to create an environment where a veterinary team can do its best work.

Schedule

This is a full-time position working four 10-hour shifts per week - Sunday–Wednesday / Wednesday–Saturday

Compensation

Salary: $85,000–$110,000, depending on experience.

You'll also be eligible to participate in our Hospital Manager bonus plan, alongside the wider benefits available to our team.

Benefits:-

  • 401(k) with 100% company match up to 4%
  • Generous discounts on care for multiple pets
