About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior People Advisor – EU to lead HR operations across Portugal, Zurich, the UK, and other European locations. As the primary HR resource in Europe, you’ll ensure smooth execution of HR processes, compliance, payroll, performance management, and people programs.
Given that this role is the only General & Administrative (G&A) resource in the region, you will also support finance operations as needed, assisting with payroll, vendor payments, and financial reporting. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for someone who is both a strong executor and a strategic thinker, balancing local compliance with global business needs.
What you'll do:
HR Operations & Compliance
- Oversee all HR operations across Portugal, Zurich, the UK, and other EU locations.
- Ensure compliance with Portuguese, Swiss, UK, and EU labor laws, including contracts, terminations, and social security reporting.
- Own payroll processing and statutory reporting for multiple jurisdictions, working with vendors and finance teams.
- Manage HRIS administration and ensure accurate employee records.
- Handle visa sponsorship and work authorization where required.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks for European entities.
People Programs & Performance
- Drive performance management cycles, ensuring alignment with business goals across Europe.
- Manage compensation reviews, job leveling, and market benchmarking.
- Support total rewards and benefits programs to ensure competitiveness across regions.
- Lead employee relations, coaching managers on complex HR issues with a business-minded, solutions-driven approach.
- Work closely with finance, legal, and global HR teams to optimize operations.
HR Systems, Data & Reporting
- Own and optimize HRIS and HR analytics across Europe.
- Track HR metrics (turnover, compensation trends, performance insights) and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Improve HR reporting, workforce planning, and compliance tracking across multiple jurisdictions.
Finance & Business Support (As the only G&A resource in the EU)
- Assist finance with payroll reconciliation, vendor payments, and invoice processing for Portugal, Zurich, the UK, and other EU locations.
- Support financial reporting and tracking HR-related expenditures across multiple jurisdictions.
- Help ensure finance policy compliance related to compensation, benefits, and payroll reporting.
- Liaise with external payroll providers and ensure timely, accurate processing.
Employee Engagement & Development
- Drive engagement, culture, and employee surveys that align with business priorities across Europe.
- Support leadership in implementing global and regional learning & development initiatives.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding experiences for employees and contractors across Portugal, Zurich, the UK, and other European locations.
- Organize local employee engagement events, town hall, celebrations.
Global HR & Business Coordination
- Serve as a key point of contact between European HR and global HR leadership to ensure alignment.
- Support global HR projects, including total rewards, engagement, talent development, and HRIS integration.
- Lead regional HR initiatives while maintaining a business-oriented, strategic mindset.

Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in HR operations, payroll, compensation, compliance, and global HR processes.
- Expertise in payroll management, labour laws, and employment compliance across Portugal, Switzerland, the UK, and other European locations.
- Experience supporting finance-related responsibilities (payroll reconciliation, vendor payments, invoice processing, financial reporting).
- Hands-on experience with HRIS systems, payroll and HR analytics.
- Fluent in English and Portuguese; other European languages are a plus but not necessary.
- Experience in a multinational, fast-paced environment (SaaS, tech, or high-growth company preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Finance, or related fields preferred.
