About the role
The Director, Professional Services Consultants is responsible for leading and managing a team of consultants specializing in business analysis, data consulting, and technical delivery. Reporting to the VP of Professional Services, this role ensures the efficient allocation of resources, execution of projects, validation of pre-sales deals, and continuous development of the consultant team. The Director plays a key role in ensuring alignment between Professional Services, Product, Technology, and Sales to optimize implementation efficiency and deliver high-quality solutions.
This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on involvement in key projects, particularly in complex requirements gathering, pre-sales validation, and ensuring successful project delivery.
What you'll do
Pre-Sales & Solution Validation
- Validate all deals submitted by the pre-sales team that pertain to your product expertise to ensure proper scoping, feasibility, and alignment with business needs before submission to the Deal Desk.
- Assess resource requirements for upcoming projects based on the forecasted sales pipeline, ensuring capacity planning is in place.
- Collaborate with Product and Technology to ensure proposed solutions align with Professional Services capabilities and client needs.
Resource & Capacity Planning
- Develop and oversee resource allocation plans, ensuring consultants are effectively staffed on projects while balancing competing priorities.
- Monitor and optimize team utilization, maintaining an average billable utilization rate of 85-90%.
- Address resource conflicts and capacity constraints by coordinating with Project Managers, Solutions Architects, and other delivery teams.
Project Execution & Consultant Oversight
- Act as an escalation point for high-complexity projects, ensuring that issues are resolved efficiently and that delivery meets quality standards.
- Oversee and drive the execution of projects in alignment with agreed-upon schedules, scope, and budgets.
- Support consultants in requirements gathering for larger or more complex projects, ensuring comprehensive scoping and business alignment.
- Participate in monthly financial reviews with project teams and clients to ensure budget alignment and cost control.
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure consistent application of best practices in delivery and execution.
Governance, Compliance & Process Improvement
- Develop and implement standardized processes and tools to improve project efficiency and consistency across the Professional Services team.
- Ensure adherence to SDLC, Agile, and DevOps methodologies, working closely with project teams to maintain compliance.
- Drive continuous process improvements, implementing at least two efficiency enhancements per year to optimize project execution.
- Ensure that all project artifacts, documentation, and approvals (BNA reviews, charters, signoffs, RAID logs, change requests) are thoroughly reviewed, accurate and up to date before approval.
Client & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as a strategic advisor to clients, ensuring consultant efforts align with broader client goals and organizational objectives.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and PMs) to improve service delivery and value creation.
- Monitor client feedback and project outcomes, ensuring necessary actions are taken to enhance client satisfaction.
Team Leadership & Professional Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of junior, intermediate, and senior consultants, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Establish clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct quarterly performance evaluations.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and coordinate training and development programs.
- Foster a collaborative and knowledge-sharing culture, ensuring that best practices are consistently applied.

- KR 1.1 – Ensure 90% of consultants meet or exceed their performance targets.
- KR 1.2 – Complete 100% of individual development plans for all team members.
- KR 1.3 – Conduct quarterly team-building activities to foster collaboration and engagement.
Objective 2: Optimize Resource Management & Project Execution
- KR 2.1 – Maintain an average utilization rate of 85-90% across the consultant team.
- KR 2.2 – Reduce project resource conflicts by 25% through better planning and coordination.
- KR 2.3 – Implement at least two process improvements per year to enhance project efficiency.
- KR 2.4 – Ensure that 100% of assigned projects meet scope, timeline, and budget expectations.
Objective 3: Enhance Client Satisfaction & Service Delivery
- KR 3.1 – Achieve a client satisfaction score of 4.7/5 or higher on consultant-led projects.
- KR 3.2 – Resolve 95% of escalated project challenges within the defined timeframe.
- KR 3.3 – Contribute to at least one strategic initiative per quarter that improves client service delivery.
Objective 4: Strengthen Pre-Sales & Strategic Alignment
- KR 4.1 – Validate X% of pre-sales deals before submission to ensure feasibility and resource alignment.
- KR 4.2 – Align 100% of consultant activities with broader organizational objectives as defined by the VP of Professional Services.
- KR 4.3 – Provide monthly performance and resource utilization reports to leadership.
- KR 4.4 – Develop a workforce planning strategy within the first six months to ensure team scalability.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Team Performance – Ensure 90% of consultants meet or exceed performance targets.
- Utilization Rate – Maintain an average 85-90% utilization rate across the consultant team.
- Project Success – Ensure 90% of consultant-led projects meet delivery deadlines and quality standards.
- Client Satisfaction – Maintain a client satisfaction score of 4.7/5 or higher.
- Process Improvements – Implement at least two efficiency improvements annually.
- Mentorship & Growth – Execute individualized growth plans for 100% of team members.
- Pre-Sales Validation – Ensure X% of deals submitted by the pre-sales team are reviewed and validated before submission.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in Professional Services, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
- Industry Experience: Experience in Financial Industry is a plus.
