About the role
- Qalam Institute seeks a Licensed Professional Counselor to provide individual, couple, and family counseling within our Pastoral Counseling Department. The LPC will integrate evidence‑based therapeutic practices with Islamic spiritual guidance, working under the supervision of Shaykh Mikaeel Smith to support the mental and spiritual wellbeing of the Qalam community.
- Note: Current Qalam students are not eligible for this position.
What you'll do
Clinical Counseling
- Deliver individual, couple, and family therapy in accordance with Texas LPC licensure standards and ethical guidelines.
- Develop comprehensive treatment plans and employ appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Maintain accurate case notes, assessments, and client records in compliance with state regulations and Qalam policies.
- Provide counseling for Qalam Seminary students in accordance with Texas LPC licensure standards and guidelines.
Pastoral Counseling Integration
- Collaborate with Shaykh Mikaeel to ensure counseling approaches align with Islamic values and Qalam’s pastoral care framework.
- Provide referrals to religious/spiritual support as appropriate.
Client Intake & Case Management
- Conduct intake interviews and assessments to determine client needs and appropriate services.
- Manage scheduling, follow‑up, and case progress tracking.
Community Support & Education
- Assist in developing workshops, group counseling sessions, and educational programs on mental health and spiritual well‑being.
- Contribute to research projects such as the Morning Adhkār Study
Qualifications
- Active LPC license in the State of Texas.
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of professional counseling experience (clinical settings preferred).
- Strong understanding of Islamic values and their integration into counseling practice.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and case management skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and culturally sensitive care.
- Ability to work onsite in Carrollton, TX with some evening and weekend availability.
Compensation & Payment Structure
- Session Fee: Counseling services are billed per session.
- Revenue Split: Therapists receive 60 % of the session fee ($78 per session) while Qalam retains 40 % ($52 per session).
- Payment Schedule: Payments are disbursed via direct deposit by the 10th of each month for sessions completed and paid for in the prior month. No payment is provided for late cancellations or no‑shows unless the session fee is collected.
- Independent Contractor Status: As a 1099 contractor, the LPC is not an employee of Qalam. They are responsible for reporting and paying their own taxes and are not eligible for employee benefits.
Schedule & Commitment
- Full‑time role with flexibility to accommodate client needs.
- Some evening and weekend sessions may be required
