About the role

Qalam is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant Intern or Volunteer to support our

finance team. This part-time role is ideal for someone with accounting experience looking to give

back through volunteer work, or a student currently pursuing a degree in accounting who wants

hands-on experience in a nonprofit setting.


What you'll do

  • Assist with transaction auditing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Help with data entry and account reconciliation, including monthly and quarterly reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Accountant to maintain financial records and reports.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives related to financial operations.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with accounting software is a plus (e.g., QuickBooks Online (QBO), Ramp, Stripe).
