QE Solar is seeking a motivated Apprentice to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial photovoltaic (PV) systems. Under the guidance of licensed electricians and field supervisors, the apprentice will gain hands-on experience and technical skills essential for a career in solar electrical work.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation, inspection, and testing of solar PV electrical components including inverters, combiner boxes, conduit runs and wiring systems.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Operate hand and power tools under supervision.
  •  Support troubleshooting of system faults and assist in repairs.
  •  Follow safety protocols and OSHA regulations at all job sites.
  •  Maintain accurate documentation of work completed, and materials used.
  •  Uphold QE Solar's commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism.


Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED required.

 – Willing to Enroll in an electrical apprenticeship program required.

- Basic understanding of electrical theory and the National Electrical Code (NEC).

- Interest in renewable energy and sustainability.

 - Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and at heights. - Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.


Specialized or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications Preferred:

  • Inverter and/or BESS manufacturers’ certifications (e.g SunGrow, Power Electronics, Solectria, BYD, etc) a plus
  • Thermography certifications (Level 1)
  • IT/networking skills: Familiarity with RS485, Modbus, tcp/ip, etc.
  • NABCEP PV Installer Certification
  • Minimum OSHA 10/30 Certification
  • Completion of NFPA 70E courses
  • CPR/First Aid


Travel Requirements:

  • Extensive travel regionally and occasionally nationally, to meet client field operation’s needs.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shifts; full-time; 40-hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime Eligible

This position requires:

  • Working in indoor and outdoor environments, including solar sites, construction sites, and industrial facilities, in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.)
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing on uneven terrain
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds or more, with or without assistance
  • Use of hands and fingers to operate tools, testing equipment, and technical devices with precision
  • Ability to safely climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and near energized equipment while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols
  • Visual acuity to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents, and to identify potential hazards
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, arc-flash protection, and other job-specific gear
  • Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members, supervisors, and other trades in active work environments
