Validations Engineer, Android

At Qu you’ll find a fun, dynamic, and diverse culture that celebrates team and individual success. Our people are down to earth, trail blazin’ folks who value innovation.

Qu is a rapidly growing SaaS platform for the quick service restaurant industry.  Qu sits at a restaurant’s center creating and managing data for in-store, mobile and online ordering, kiosks, guest engagement, and digital payments as well as kitchen delivery and back of house operations. We serve a nationwide footprint of accounts, including some of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in America. Qu is backed by several leading venture capital groups and is led by a team of proven industry executives. We are currently seeking a senior product manager to help drive the future of our platform.

The Validations Engineer, Android role will be responsible for Qu’s Android hardware and OS strategy and their compatibility with Qu’s POS, Kiosk, and Kitchen Display System (KDS) applications.  You’ll build validation protocols that simulate real-world restaurant workflows, help minimize support overhead, and ensure every rollout is low-touch, scalable, and high-performance.

At Qu you will:

  • Lead hardware and OS certification from OEM partners for restaurant-grade deployments; ensuring proper device provisioning, performance and security.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers, operations, and engineering teams to troubleshoot firmware, kernel, or driver issues impacting app behavior.
  • Ensure peripherals (e.g., printers, scanners, card readers) integrate cleanly with Android platforms.
  • Design and execute “day-in-the-life” restaurant tests that simulate full workflows—from order placement through payment, kitchen routing, and reporting.
  • Validate brand-specific deployments ensuring code, configuration, and menu logic behave as expected in production-like conditions.
  • Verify and troubleshoot integrations with DSPs, loyalty, payment processors, and reporting tools, ensuring reliable API behavior and data flow.
  • Partner with Product and Operations to define low-touch Android device provisioning and installation standards.
  • Create internal documentation and test artifacts that support onboarding and operational scaling.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong understanding of Android system architecture (AOSP, firmware, device drivers) and experience working with both x86 and ARM devices.
  • Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM), OTA updates, and deployment automation.
  • 5+ years of experience validating or engineering Android OS-based platforms, preferably in POS, kiosk, or other embedded systems.
  • Experience in QA/validation engineering with a methodical and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Bonus: Experience in the restaurant tech industry or with enterprise-grade hardware rollouts.

Who You Are:

  • A proactive team player with a high degree of ownership.
  • Adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and capable of handling ambitious expectations.
  • Excellent communicator across multiple platforms and with various stakeholders, from peers to senior executives.
  • Intellectually curious, forward thinking, open to experimenting with new technologies, and innovative problem solving approaches.
