About the Role


Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Account Director role involves managing a portfolio of key accounts while focusing on developing and implementing strategies for client retention, renewal, and expansion. The Account Director will play a critical role in driving year-over-year growth, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring operational excellence across all projects. Additionally, the ideal candidate will optimize internal workflows, enhance client communication, and maintain project timelines to deliver the highest standards of execution. 


In this position, the Account Director will oversee and mentor a team of Account Managers and Account Coordinators, fostering a collaborative culture centered on strategic thinking and continuous improvement. The candidate should possess a proven track record in account management and business growth, thrive in fast-paced environments, and have a deep understanding of market research project management. With a growth mindset, they will be comfortable working autonomously while knowing when to escalate or collaborate with leadership. Above all, this individual should bring innate curiosity, strategic insight, and a proactive approach to fostering client and organizational growth. 


Core Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to exceed revenue goals within assigned accounts. 
  • Act as a trusted advisor to client decision-makers, promoting long-term client retention. 
  • Identify expansion opportunities through relevant services and solutions. 
  • Understand client challenges to deliver tailored solutions. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams for efficient project execution and issue resolution. 
  • Lead client renewal efforts by demonstrating ongoing value. 
  • Educate clients on platform capabilities, positioning the company as a strategic partner. 
  • Troubleshoot client issues in partnership with account managers and senior leadership. 
  • Analyze client performance metrics to provide growth recommendations. 
  • Create compelling presentations with data and case studies for account expansion. 
  • Oversee project milestones within the qualitative research platform. 
  • Support clients throughout project lifecycles with proactive service. 
  • Mentor and develop team members within the account management team. 
  • Refine project management processes for greater efficiency.

What We Would Like to See

  • 8+ years of experience in the Consumer Insights industry, focused on research design, client/project success, and account management, including familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.  
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales targets for account expansion and renewals.  
  • Experience working with large CPG companies, with a deep understanding of their business challenges and consumer insights needs.  
  • BA/BS (4-year required) with a strong academic record.  
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and online project management tools.  
  • Passion for managing people and market research   

Position Type


This position is full-time. We are a largely remote organization with offices in Chicago and Salt Lake City. We empower our employees to decide whether they’d like to work from our offices or remotely from a location of their choice, provided they are legally authorized to work from their chosen location.
