JOB SUMMARY


The Transport Engineer L4 is a senior role responsible for overseeing the architecture, optimization, and strategic development of SCADA databases (historians) and systems. This position requires deep technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to align SCADA operations with organizational goals. The Transport Engineer L4 will drive system improvements, lead cross-functional initiatives, and ensure seamless integration and compliance with industry standards. This role also includes mentoring team members and acting as a key advisor for OT-related projects.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the design, architecture, and optimization of SCADA databases, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for SCADA database management and system integration in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Lead efforts in troubleshooting and resolving critical issues in SCADA systems, providing expert guidance to the team.
  • Implement advanced data validation processes and governance protocols to maintain data integrity and quality.
  • Monitor system performance and lead initiatives to enhance database efficiency and operational resilience.
  • Design and implement complex stored procedures and automation processes for SCADA data handling and reporting.
  • Provide strategic insights through advanced data analysis and reporting, supporting executive decision-making.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between SCADA operations and other departments, ensuring seamless collaboration and data integration.
  • Lead the planning and execution of system enhancements, upgrades, and compliance initiatives.
  • Establish best practices and standards for database management, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Mentor and train team members, fostering skill development and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Represent the organization in external discussions with vendors, clients, and industry stakeholders.
  • Drive innovation by researching and implementing emerging technologies to enhance SCADA operations.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, with 6+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Expert-level knowledge of SCADA systems, databases, and time series data.
  • Advanced proficiency in database management systems (DBMS) such as Microsoft SQL, MySQL, or similar.
  • Strong expertise in database architecture, performance tuning, and stored procedure development.
  • Extensive experience in database design, system integration, and large-scale data handling.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in energy, utilities, or industrial control systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with OT (Operational Technology) environments.
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure related to SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of T-SQL for building stored procedures.
