About the role

Raptor Maps is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team for Summer 2026. This internship offers hands-on experience working on production systems that support large-scale solar operations, with opportunities across full-stack web development, machine learning, and robotics. Interns are embedded within active teams, contribute meaningful code, and learn directly from experienced engineers through mentorship and collaboration.


Internships are a core part of our talent pipeline and culture at Raptor Maps. We intentionally design our internship program to provide real ownership, strong technical growth, and exposure to climate-impact work, and many of our interns return as full-time team members after graduation


All interns must be able to join us in our office at Greentown Labs in Somerville at least 3x/week. Some interns may be asked to travel occasionally.


What you'll do

Interns will be hired for a specific track, either Full-Stack or Automation. Work may include:


Full-Stack Engineering

  • Design, develop, and deploy new features in production web applications
  • Collaborate with engineers and product partners to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and improve application performance and reliability

Automation

  • Contribute to the training, evaluation and deployment of machine learning models for computer vision applications
  • Contribute to the prototyping, implementation, and evaluation of algorithms to process images and 3D data
  • Analyze and curate datasets for machine learning and computer vision tasks


Qualifications - Nonnegotiable

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field (rising Seniors and graduate students preferred) 
  • Coursework or project experience in software development
  • Ability to write clear, maintainable code and learn new technologies quickly
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Primarily located in Boston, MA during the internship period

Qualifications - Preferred

  • Experience with Python and/or JavaScript (React)
  • Exposure to machine learning, robotics, or computer vision through coursework or projects
  • Familiarity with web application development, APIs, or data pipelines
  • Interest in climate tech, renewable energy, or mission-driven work

The pay range for this role is:

25 - 25 USD per hour (Somerville, MA)
