Acquisition Manager

Dreamscape Select is a personalized audiobook/eBook distribution service under the RBmedia umbrella that provides distribution, marketing, and sales support for independent authors and publishers. It acts as a white-glove service for leading independent authors & publishers, helping them get their audiobooks to a global audience. Dreamscape Select is seeking an individual to work within the team to lead content acquisition.

Position Summary:

The Acquisition Manager will drive all acquisition efforts as it relates to audiobook distribution via Dreamscape Select as well as eBook distribution into libraries for the wider RBmedia organization. They will be responsible for outreach and generation of new leads via pre-existing relationships and leveraging key data sources to generate new relationships for distribution. White glove treatment for our partners is critical and this individual will be the first point of contact for many of our new authors and publishing partners. The candidate will be familiar with, and have a passion for, key book genres in the independent author space. The role will be required to travel 3 to 4 times a year to several Independent Author conferences across the country. This role is based in the Toledo, Ohio area.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this position successfully, an individual will have the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to fulfill the requirements listed below:

  • Research and locate new leads that are appropriate candidates for the Dreamscape Select program, meeting with potential new authors and working with them to start the onboarding process (reach out, intro meeting, send contract, introduce to team for onboarding)
  • Manage outreach for eBook initiatives, maintaining outreach tracking and liaising with contracts and operations to ensure that authors are onboarded correctly
  • Leverage multiple data sets to establish an acquisition strategy for independent authors
  • Working with design and sales to help create the monthly sales deck, ensuring that information is accurate and up to date
  • Answer relationship and industry related questions coming from partners, sending them to either operations and marketing/sales when applicable 
  • Work with accounting and operations to troubleshoot where necessary (missing payments, ISBN issues, etc)
  • Liaise with the audiobook acquisitions team as opportunities arise
  • Conference travel to meet with potential new leads and current authors
  • Managing the distribution hub, signing off on new titles (both audio and eBook) that come in and making sure that they're distributed correctly per our contracts
  • Annual business reviews with partners, pulling data as needed
  • Send out custom reports on an ad-hoc basis to key clients

 

Skills:

  • Familiarity with Windows platforms
  • Familiarity with Outlook, Excel, Airtable, DocuSign, and Concord
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to work with a sense of urgency

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to respond effectively to changing priorities

Preferred Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in media/customer relations of 3-5 years
