Facilities Technician (Part-Time)

Overview

Tantor Media, a division of RBmedia, is one of the largest audio book publishers in the World. Tantor Media has over 20 years of experience in the audio market. Tantor Media currently has an opening for a Facilities Technician (Part-Time). The Facilities Technician must be able to conduct work in the state of CT including out of the Tantor Media headquarters in Old Saybrook, CT.


This is a part-time, non-exempt position and will report directly to the SVP, General Manager.

Position Responsibilities including but not limited to: 

Under supervision of the Senior Vice President/General Manager, the position provides support for facilities-related needs of the office building. STATUS Part-time; 20 hours per week.  Extra hours may be requested to cover extraordinary circumstances or special events.  


This is an onsite role and does not have a remote or hybrid structure.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:  Provides general and detailed maintenance (either with direct or indirect supervision), including patching, painting, hardware repairs, and other repair/replacement work as required. Including but not limited to support, coordinating with outside vendors for work to be performed on-site. Including but not limited to support, coordinating with outside vendors for work to be performed on-site.

  • Performs routine facility maintenance.
  • Dedicates some hours every week for assistance with general office work related to the ordering, organization, and tracking of supplies and materials.  Help maintain adequate custodial supply stocks.
  • Performs routine daily inspections of assigned buildings and spaces.
  • Follows, monitors and manages the Facilities ticketing system to ensure timely responses and issue resolution.  
  • Complete all documentation for work performed, in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and performs the duties associated with office events, including executing the set-up plan in a timely manner, and breakdowns are completed and spaces returned to normal state.
  • Duties may include snow removal (outside office entrances) and or responding to storm damage.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Work Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED. 
  • Completion of a private, military, or trade school training program that includes theory and on-the-job work, preferred.
  • At least two years of verifiable experience (three or more highly desirable) maintaining various building interior and exterior surfaces, including painted and papered walls, baseboards, tiled and carpeted floor surfaces, brass and stainless-steel finishes.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment.


SKILLS and ABILITIES:  

  • Ability to develop Request for Quotes, evaluate the potential vendors, and provide a summary and recommendation to leadership.
  • Ability to use basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and custodial hand and electric powered tools. •
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with ability to receive and respond to work assignments in both formats.
  • Read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.
  • Ability to lift/move items up to 75lbs
  • Follow oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population.
  • Keep computerized records and prepare reports.  Access and employ job related to computer software (email, work planning, timekeeping) at an effective proficiency level.
  • Works independently with limited supervision, interacting effectively with and quickly gaining the respect and support of staff.
  • Ability to develop Request for Quotes, evaluate the potential vendors and provide a summary and recommendation to leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with internal employees, vendors and the landlord (as required).
  • Ability to work onsite in our Old Saybrook, CT office.
