Real Capital Solutions (RCS) is a rapidly growing private equity owner/operator of real estate with over 55 employees, located in Louisville, CO. RCS, through its affiliates, owns a portfolio of properties valued at over $2.4 billion, with plans to acquire a minimum of an additional $1 billion of new assets over the next few years. RCS properties are located nationally. The key to the firm’s success has been a thorough understanding of the dynamics that affect the real estate cycle. 

The Company’s current property portfolio comprises over 80 projects and more than 18 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space—both in Colorado and in select markets nationwide.  We are also continuing to expand the company’s acquisition initiative into other national markets.  This position will be involved in our expanding real estate portfolio—both here in Colorado and in other national markets.

About the role

Under the direction of the General Counsel, the incumbent will be responsible for acting as an agent for Real Capital Solutions (RCS) about legal matters, liabilities and rights specifically in the development, construction and commercial real estate business.  No litigation work will be required.  Work will be transactional and will involve preparation, review and negotiation of development and construction documents and contracts, as well as closing documents about acquisitions and sales.

What you'll do

• Familiarity with and drafting of all documents related to commercial construction and development, including development agreements, joint venture agreements, construction contracts, subcontractor and service agreements, easements, and licenses, etc.
• All aspects of commercial real estate acquisitions and sales, including preparation and negotiation of contracts; all phases of due diligence and closing
• Real estate finance, including loan document review and negotiation as well as loan closings
• Familiarity with commercial leases and ground leases and common community formation documents a plus
• Provide legal advice on any legal matters pertaining to RCS
• Provide legal advice on any suits brought by or against RCS
• Act as a legal consultant for RCS in any legal matters, mediations, arbitrations, and hearings.
• Support all other RCS employees on legal matters
• Draft letters and correspondence on behalf of RCS

Qualifications

·         Strong academic credentials with a J.D. Degree

·         8 – 12+ years’ experience in construction, development, real estate acquisitions and financing.

·         Demonstrated strategic approach to legal problem solving

·         Impeccable communication skills both verbal and written

·         Ability to work independently on multiple projects and be deadline focused

·         Ability to be flexible and adapt to change quickly

·         High integrity with the demonstrated ability to learn quickly
