About the role

Who are our data engineers? 
                        
They are creative problem-solvers who have put together a growing library of over 400 curated open datasets. They continue to build out Rearc’s cloud data platform that delivers this data to customers in a robust manner. They are hands-on-keyboard leaders who advise and consult with our customers. They are collaborators on data strategy who work to unlock the value of data with emerging data architectures, pipelines and infrastructure. Finally, they are ambassadors of our engineering focused culture.

What you'll do

  • Lead Rearc’s data consulting practice and report directly to the founders.
  • Build and lead a team of data engineering consultants across multiple data service offerings and customer projects.
  • Evaluate customer’s needs, design solutions, build proofs of concept, and stay heavily engaged with customers throughout the sales process.
  • Lead customer communication by driving customer pre-sales calls, addressing customer concerns, and ensuring their needs are met.
  • Design and build packaged service offerings for Rearc’s data practice.
  • Create marketing materials such as pitch decks, brochures, and blog articles. 
  • Work with alliance partners to ensure our service offerings and project delivery aligns with partner best practices and programs.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and issues to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Plan for team growth by hiring and training a team of data engineering consultants.
  • Manage and mentor team members and other lead engineers to help them identify and meet personal and project performance related goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve technical toolsets and services.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

We're looking for:

  • Proven ability to lead multiple teams of data engineering consultants across multiple customers and projects.
  • Capable of interfacing with director level customers to communicate technical excellence and holistic value proposition.
  • Extensive data engineering experience, ideally across multiple architectures, technology stacks, and use cases.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience writing and testing either Python or Java/Scala.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop. 
  • Data architecture experience and knowledge of best practices - SQL, NoSQL, data warehousing, data lake, data lakehouse such as AWS Redshift, Snowflake and Databricks. 
  • Some knowledge of with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Familiarity with data streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, spark streaming, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities on a small team working to quickly deliver multiple features.

Bonus points for: 

  • Hands-on experience working with Spark or other big-data processing engine in a production environment.
  • Experience working directly with customers in a consulting capacity.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration platforms like Airflow, Prefect, Glue, DBT.
  • Experience with analytics/BI tools (e.g. Tableau) or AI/ML (e.g. Sagemaker).
  • Experience with event driven architecture and frameworks.
  • Certifications in one or more of the following: AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, GCP, or Azure
