Role Description
We are looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing our network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends. As a Network Engineer at Recom, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability and scalability of our network. In this role you will report directly to the COO and will be based at the Company’s office in Deerfield Beach, FL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network solutions that align with the company's strategic objectives. This includes designing LAN/WAN architectures, selecting hardware and software, and ensuring scalability and security.
- Network Implementation: Deploy and configure network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. Ensure proper routing, VLAN segmentation, and access control. •
- Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime. Utilize network monitoring tools to assess and analyze network traffic patterns and performance metrics.
- Security: Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs. Stay updated on security threats and vulnerabilities and take proactive measures to protect the network.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Capacity Planning: Assess network capacity and performance to anticipate future growth and resource requirements. Plan and execute capacity expansion projects as needed.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and service providers to ensure seamless integration of network services and troubleshoot issues.
- Stay Informed: Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering. Continuously enhance your knowledge and skills to contribute to the company's technological advancements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Demonstrated experience in network management, including experience in a range of network hardware and software solutions, encompassing brands such as Barracuda, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and Fortinet.
- Proven experience across various network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and VPNs, is a core requirement.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools like Wireshark, Nagios, and SolarWinds is crucial for ensuring network efficiency and security.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with regards to solving complex network issues that result in a swift resolution.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills are equally vital, as Network Engineers often work in interdisciplinary teams to optimize network performance and security.
- Relevant certifications like CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), or JNCIA (Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate)
