Coffee Van Driver/Barista Job Description 

As a Barista/Driver, you will be responsible for tasting all our coffee daily, educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items, and taking orders. As a driver, you will drive our mobile van to various locations in Oakland and San Francisco between 5 am 5 pm. You may also be asked to perform additional duties that need to be outlined but may be relevant to the overall scope of your position.

To be successful in this role, you should have strong customer service skills, enjoy interacting with diverse groups of people, be dependable, and reliable, and have a strong interest in coffee. You should also be able to work various shifts, and locations, including our mobile van and weekends. YOU MUST HAVE A DRIVER'S LICENSE and a clean driving record. Note: This position’s compensation includes an hourly base and tips.

Ultimately, you will ensure we provide an excellent experience for our guests. 

What You'll Do

• Following opening and closing procedures for the Coffee Van
• Picking the van up from the warehouse and dropping it back off
• Van maintenance including: 
• • Maintaining gas and fluid levels
  • Maintaining cleanliness inside and outside
• Setting van up for daily operatioevents, including but not limited to tables, signs, retail bags and decorations
• Training other baristas to use van equipment and service customers
• Assist with updating inventory levels
• Prepare and taste coffee and other beverages for quality 
• Answering customer's questions regarding the drink menu and ingredients
• Educating customers on our drink menu and making recommendations based on their preferences
• Serve pastries
• Receive and process payments 
• Keep the van/bar area stocked and clean at all times
• Ensure brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Maintains a level of calm and patience when faced with stressful situations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
• Making occasional deliveries to our stores

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills 
• At least 25 years old or older
• Must have a clean driving record and a driver's license
• Experience driving large commercial vehicles
• Availability between 6am-6 pm
