We are looking to hire baristas and shift leaders, for our locations at the Ferry Building, and our new cafe in the Financial District of San Francisco. We are currently hiring for part-time hourly positions who will report to our Cafe Manager. In the role of Barista, your responsibilities would first include tasting coffee daily, educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items, and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have strong customer service skills, enjoy interacting with diverse groups of people, be dependable, reliable, and love coffee. You should also be able to work various shifts, including weekends. 


Ultimately, you will ensure we provide an excellent experience for our guests.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Greeting customers as they enter, and strong customer service skills are a must

  • Tasting Coffee drinks and our delicious foods

  • Answering customer's questions regarding the drink menu and ingredients

  • Educating customers on our drink menu and making recommendations based on their preferences 

  • Upselling special items and capturing customer order details correctly

  • Prepare beverages following the recipes

  • Keep the bar area stocked and clean

  • Ensure brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs

  • Comply with health and safety regulations

  • Maintains a level of calm and patience when faced with stressful situations

  • Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of barista experience preferred

  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations - Food Handler / ServeSafe certified preferred

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment

  • Punctual and dependable with a strong work ethic

  • Excellent customer service skills - external and internal 

  • Excellent communication skills with both team and customers

  • Positive attitude and willingness to support your team 

  • Reliable, dependable, and highly adaptable

  • Flexibility to work various shifts - including weekends and holidays

  • Passion for coffee and phenomenal service!

  • Compensation:
    • $18.67/hr or more depending on experience
    • Shift Leader I - $22
    • Shift Leader II - $22.50
    • Shift Leader III - $22.75
    • Plus $7 - $13/hr in tips
