About the role

The Redesign Group is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to run day-to-day payroll and help with employee leave and benefits administration across our US, Canadian, UK, and French operations. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable owning payroll processing end to end, and ready to grow their scope as we expand internationally.

What you'll do

  • Keep payroll data accurate in Rippling, including employee changes, pay adjustments, and terminations
  • Look into and help resolve payroll tax notices (unemployment insurance, withholding), working with payroll providers and tax agencies as needed
  • Help reconcile payroll and benefits, keeping payroll deductions, benefits invoices, and general ledger entries aligned
  • Support compliance-related audits (e.g., ERISA, workers' compensation, payroll tax) by preparing payroll and benefits documentation as directed by Finance and People Operations

Leave Administration

  • Handle leave request intake and check initial eligibility against policy
  • Coordinate the pay impact of leave with payroll processing
  • Track leave case status and manage return-to-work logistics
  • Partner with People Operations on compliance review for complex or unclear leave cases

Benefits Support

  • Answer employee questions about benefits enrollment, coverage, and plan details
  • Process benefits changes tied to qualifying life events
  • Support open enrollment logistics as needed (enrollment itself runs through Rippling)

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of payroll processing experience, including multi-state US payroll
  • Experience with Canadian payroll preferred; willingness to build this expertise required
  • Experience with Rippling or a comparable HRIS/payroll platform strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with US leave laws (FMLA, state paid leave/PFML) preferred
  • Experience researching and resolving payroll tax notices (SUI, withholding) directly with tax agencies or through a payroll provider
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive, confidential data
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Finance and third-party vendors
  • Experience coordinating with international payroll vendors a plus (UK/France)
