POSITION SUMMARY:
 
The SVP, Clinical Operations supports Regent’s surgical facilities in building the clinical quality strategy and driving improvement in clinical quality, risk management, patient safety, culture of safety and patient experience by providing the resources, training and tools that reduce variation from evidence based best practices and improve outcomes. The SVP, Clinical Operations provides oversight of performance, strategic leadership, and identifies opportunities for improvement to the clinical team including Director of Clinical Operation’s (DCO’s) for nursing and clinical operations in alignment with Regent’s strategic objectives and goals.
 
Working collaboratively across the organization, this individual will lead initiatives to advance integration of practices, enhanced patient experience, and delivery of high-quality care.
 
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                              
 
  • Create a culture of clinical excellence and quality through creating & implementing clinical approaches to meet aggressive performance outcomes. 
    1. Design and deliver Regent clinical strategy and program including creating and customizing playbooks, ongoing learning and development, policies and job aides to comply with regulatory standards
    2. Develop and evaluate clinical standards and outcomes including measurement against performance.  
    3. Standardize clinical resources/services across markets and drives best practices across the organization.
    4. Develop critical pathways for implementation to ensure we are meeting regulatory standards of care
    5. Build and implement an enterprise clinical safety and quality platform and other infrastructure to ensure clinical quality
  • Effectively partner across the enterprise by providing clinical leadership to partner and influence key audiences. This includes but is not limited to: Vice Presidents of Operations, Center Administrators, Center Directors of Nursing, physicians, and hospital partners as it relates to clinical quality and process.
    1. Inform and influence audiences within the company as well as outside, including, but not limited to joint venture partners, healthy systems and the board of directors
    2. Collaborate with market leadership to develop strategies and plans to achieve key clinical outcomes.  Creates a culture of safety, including regular assessments of clinical quality coupled with a robust action plan that drives a culture of clinical quality
    3. Partner with management and clinical leaders at the facilities in decision-making and providing evaluation, review and recommendations for optimization of service and programs and oversight of safe patient care.
    4. Ensure key partners are informed of clinical outcomes, risks and events
  • Identify opportunities for improvement by identifying and building plans to address clinical quality issues.  Works with ASC leaders regarding significant clinical events and ensures that a thorough root cause analysis is performed, and process improvement measures are in place to mitigate future incidents.  Follows up with key partners to ensure results are achieved.   Proactively reviews clinical outcomes and metrics to identify outliers and implement performance improvement across the organization.
  • Hire, coach, and provide feedback to clinical team(s) to create accountability in achieving clinical outcomes.  Develop strategies and plans to develop clinical talent through attracting, engaging and retaining high-quality talent.  Holds team accountable to drive results.

 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 
 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.
 
Education/Experience: 
 
  • Minimum of a Master's degree or equivalent post-graduate degree.
  • Minimum of Fifteen (15) years clinical, operational and management experience.
  • Must have an active RN license.
  • Experience working and influencing executive levels at large health systems
  • Demonstrate ability to create/design process improvement plans, gaining buy-in for adoption and implement across the organization.
  • Demonstrate ability to be an influential "clinical advisor" at senior levels in an organization.
  • Able to create innovative and strategic solutions to problems.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and manage people including matrixes reporting relationships.
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze data and utilize the data to drive process improvement. 
  • Previous industry experiences driving adoption of clinical initiatives through Operations, effectively partnering with the corporate, field leaders, health systems and physician partners.
  • Credibility and ability to build relationships to identify needs and provide necessary support and leadership.
  • Prior experience developing strategies and plans to review and improve clinical quality processes across the company.
  • Experience and proficient with clinical regulatory standards and accreditation for hospitals.  
  • Travel up to 50%.
