The center has two (2) Operating Rooms and two (2) Procedure Rooms which focus on the following surgical specialties: gastroenterology, general surgery, gynecology, pain management, podiatry, and urology.

About the role

Under the direction of the Center Administrator, the Business Office Manager (BOM) manages all aspects of the facility’s business office to include recruitment, training, evaluation and retention of business office personnel ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, policies and regulations. The BOM is proficient in all areas of the revenue cycle including surgery scheduling, insurance verification, cash management, coding, billing, accounts receivable follow-up and patient registration. Financial end-of-month closure and reporting will be completed in a timely manner and according to Center criteria.



DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate fiscal accountability for Center resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources including maintenance of payment log and reconciliations to ensure seamless month end closing.
  • Oversee unbilled report management to include scanning and uploading of required documentation for billing.
  • Incorporate quality improvement data and/or patient satisfaction data into business office goals to maintain high-level of customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of regulations applicable to patient care and Business Office functions.
  • Work closely with Materials Manager to oversee and ensure accuracy of the accounts payable (AP) process, and accrual log processes.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Center leaders and staff in goal setting, problem solving, resource management, and outcome achievement.
  • Develop performance objectives and metrics for the business office staff in alignment with company standards. Hire, train, educate, assess business office staff competence, and ensure an appropriate staffing model is implemented.
  • Demonstrate the ability to cope with and manage change, as well as help others do the same.
  • Collaborate with other Centers and RCM, as needed, to create systems and problem solve ongoing issues that impact Center goals and/or patient care delivery.
  • Provide regular communication and feedback to Center Administrator, Director of Nursing, staff, physicians, and appropriate Regent team members.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a healthy work environment by modeling desired behaviors and encouraging those in others.
  • Initiate all physician and clinical staff credentialing; track expiration dates to maintain credentialing status.
  • Work closely with the Center Administrator to review case profitability as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, and minimum three years’ experience running a medical office; or equivalent education and years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare billing Medicare Part B claims, surgery scheduling, insurance verification, accounts receivable, cash management, coding, other insurance billing, , medical records, and patient registration.
  • General IT and office equipment knowledge and skills.
  • People leadership experience.
  • BLS certification (as required by individual ASC policy)


PREFERRED:

  • Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
