POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Business Office Manager the Surgery Scheduler is responsible for organizing and maintaining the OR scheduling systems.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate with Surgeon’s offices to request schedules which are received via fax or email.
  • Schedule the surgical procedures in the system and make necessary changes such as rescheduling and cancelling as needed.
  • Obtain authorizations for surgical procedures and uploads them into the system for timely claim filing/processing (as needed).
  • Request and record history and physicals, insurance cards, and necessary items for surgical procedures.
  • Record any special equipment or implants required for surgical procedures and notify the appropriate party for the equipment.
  • Scan documents into the patient’s registry.
  • Scan documents or input information into medical record system as needed.
  • Work closely with colleagues regarding cancellations and late bookings.
  • Provide regular communication and feedback to supervisor.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Two years’ previous experience working in a medical office
