POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Center Administrator the Director of Nursing has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the center and their effect on patient care. The Director of Nursing has authority to make decisions in the center in the areas of patient care, human resources, and clinical financial management. The Director of Nursing has overall responsibility for clinical operations within the center.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate the center’s mission, vision and values, as well as center goals, to all staff; inspire and motivate staff to achieve goals.
- Provide supervision, leadership, and guidance to other leaders and staff in goal setting, problem solving, resource management, outcome achievement, and promotion of team cohesion.
- Oversee the hiring, training, evaluation, and discipline of clinical staff, ensuring they are adequately staffed and competent.
- Demonstrate staffing accountability through planning, assigning, and directing work of subordinate staff.
- Develop, implement, and update nursing policies and procedures to improve patient care and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Ensure high-quality, safe, and effective nursing care by setting standards, providing guidance, and evaluating performance.
- Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and ensure the Center adheres to all relevant standards.
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff, medical staff, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
- Implement quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Responsible for developing and managing the clinical department’s budget, allocating resources effectively, and tracking expenses.Evaluate performance objectives and metrics for the center and assess the level of competence of staff in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate a commitment to a healthy work environment by modeling the desired behaviors and encouraging those in others, including through rewarding and disciplining direct reports and addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Demonstrate the ability to cope with and manage change effectively, as well as help others do the same.
- Collaborate with other centers to create systems and problem solve ongoing issues that impact center/organizational goals and/or patient care delivery.
- Demonstrate fiscal accountability for center resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources.
- Incorporate quality improvement data and/or patient satisfaction data into center goals.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of regulations applicable to patient care and/or other center functions.
- Effectively oversee the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and committees.
- Appropriately document all requested reports for benchmarking, scorecards, and meeting minutes in a timely manner.
- Maintain budget items assigned by leadership: Hours / case, pharmaceutical expenses, and any other assigned areas.
- Work in collaboration with Materials Manager to manage effectively manage supply costs and cost-savings initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- RN license in appropriate State
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS (per ASC requirements)
- Minimum five years of nursing experience
- Minimum two years people leadership experience
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing
- Healthcare management experience
- ASC experience
- Perioperative experience
