Senior Engineering Manager - Seattle, WA; paid relocation available

We are currently seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple Seattle-based product engineering squads. You and your squads will focus on building and optimizing our award-winning tenant screening product suite, which is the product that propelled us to profitability last year and sits as the #1 category leader in the space! Currently, we are strengthening foundations of this product suite to better prepare for scale (refactoring the backend), as well as launching new 0-1 products and features that will drive differentiation, innovation, monetization, and competitive footing.

Reporting directly to the CTO, the ideal candidate has a proven track record of leading and scaling teams, hiring and retaining top engineering talent, and partnering with the product organization to build a robust roadmap.

This role is hybrid in-office in downtown Seattle two days per week. However, RentSpree has a significant engineering presence in Thailand, and the candidate will be expected to work closely with their peers in both regions.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as engineering leader for core products, including tenant screening and listings, while reimagining partner integrations to accelerate customer acquisition
  • Build and drive squads of talented engineers to success, in a fast-moving product delivery team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and marketing, to define and execute the product roadmap
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes
  • Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team
  • Oversee the maintenance and optimization of existing systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of the engineering department, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to inform decision-making and technology adoption

Our job descriptions evolve with our business needs and priorities. In addition to the description above, your role may include additional tasks, projects and team support as needed.

Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in software development across both startups and large tech companies
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience
  • Strong technical skills in modern programming languages and frameworks (backend and/or fullstack; we work in Kotlin, TypeScript, and React)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and influencing teams of 5-10+ engineers, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies and architectures
  • Experience in building scalable, high-availability systems, with a focus on simplicity and security
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • This is a hybrid on-site role in Seattle; you may be expected to travel occasionally to one or both offices in LA and Bangkok
